Essential Responsibilities

  • Assume overall technical responsibility in the area of energy management systems (EMS) for solar and battery energy storage (BESS) NPI programs. This includes ownership of the hardware and software platforms for power plant controls (PPC), SCADA/HMI, OT security, networking, BOP interfaces, grid modeling, and verification and validation, for utility scale Solar, BESS and Hybrid projects.
  • Lead NPI program execution by providing technical direction, leadership & mentorship to team members, both domestic and global.
  • Stay current with program level risks and develop mitigation strategies with PMs, PLL, management, Control Title Holders, Subject Mater Experts, etc.
  • Ensure team compliance with internal processes and documentation standards throughout program development.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of market, customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Lead technical planning including tradeoff studies for sub-system CTQ flow down, system verification and validation plans, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total system.
  • Review work and approve deliverables ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance.
  • Support development of technical content for complex customer proposals and provide insight into challenging product or system issues.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering / Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience developing automation and industrial control solutions.

Desired Characteristics

  • Familiarity with GE's MarkVIe product family and of GE's Cimplicity software (SCADA).
  • Knowledge of communication networks (copper, FO) and their design, SW and Hardware. Familiarity with communication network topology planning and configuration of firewalls and managed switches is a plus.
  • Strong familiarity with standard industrial protocols such as OPC-UA, IEC 61850 and Modbus, as well as standard messaging protocols such as MQTT.
  • Demonstrated product controls implementation and systems integration experience.
  • Experience with system and sub-system level testing (software and hardware in the loop testing), test software development, instrumentation for test execution, and test data analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in energy storage controls, validation and verification, formal methods, systems integration, advanced controls, power electronics, power conversion or related technologies.
  • Familiarity with OT security frameworks such as NIST CSF, IEC-62443.
  • Experience with Matlab, Simulink, C/C++, Python.
  • Experience with grid modeling using PSS/E, PSCAD or EMTP.
  • IoT or Edge computing Industrial and/or Embedded PC experience is a plus.
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working cross-functionally between Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Product Management, etc.
  • Ability to summarize and communicate complex technical information.
  • Strong problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Curiosity, passion for excellence, drive to deliver on-time.
