Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

Responsible for management of a team of people covering several DAWs (Distinct Area of Work) within the family. Serve as a 2nd line manager with senior professional direct reports. Able to attract and retain talent. Manage medium to large teams. Develop expertise in own function. May include roles that are experts in their discipline, provide professional or thought leadership. Influence policy and ensure delivery within area of responsibility, linking with other parts of the organization. Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services. Understand industry trends to inform decision making process. Lead others to find creative solutions within complex manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Employ sophisticated operational/product management, manufacturing or engineering techniques. Interact with adjacent functions needed to solve issues. Able to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Use multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision. May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Present business or technical discipline solutions to leaders. Communicate complex messages and negotiate mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influence peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Engineering or related fields, and 6 years of progressively responsible post-Bachelor's degree experience in a related occupation required. The position also requires: 3 years of experience with project engineering; 1 year of experience with systems engineering; 4 years of experience with Gas Turbine engineering; and 2 years of experience with Lean principles. Potential for routine business travel to meet customers for discussion on bids and proposals, meet customers for technical discussion during project execution.

Telecommuting permitted. When not telecommuting, must report into GE Packaged Power LP office in Houston, Texas.
