The Site Manager role includes supervision of construction subcontractors and coordination of all project activities on site. This Site Manager is permanently present on site.

The position holder reports to the Site Management Team Leader.

Tasks

  • Lead and manage all site activities including actions of GE, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and their representatives, starting already with the Civil Works phase.
  • Implement GE's EHS policies, security, housekeeping, and fire protection on the construction site.
  • Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and processes.
  • Develop the project organization. Ensure the organization is composed of qualified and knowledgeable personnel and ensures effective personnel utilization.
  • Establish and implement construction schedules, methods, staffing charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Review project cost and schedule performance through analysis of project reports and data, prepares weekly progress reports and coordinates with the Project Construction Manager.
  • Monitor and analyze project safety, cost, schedule, and quality performance and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
  • Control project expenditures for labor, equipment, material, and services and ensure field operations are within budget.
  • Plan and establish procedures to ensure construction operations meet the objectives of the project scope. Ensure corporate policies and procedures are fully implemented and if necessary, establish project procedures and objectives to address site or project specific conditions.
  • Maintain client relationship. The Site Manager is the primary point of contact for client communications to the field.
  • Maintain an effective relationship with other functional departments.
  • Direct the site safety program and ensure adherence to national, regional and local regulatory safety and health codes.
  • Oversee project commissioning activities as required. Coordinate with the Project Commissioning Manager.
  • Ensure required permits and licenses are in place prior to the start of the affected work at the site.
  • Ensure teams have the capability to execute assigned scope in a safe, secure, and cost-effective manner in accordance with the cost, technical, schedule, and quality baselines.
  • Responsible person for the system during Civil Works, installation, and commissioning

External: Local utility, Client, Contractors & Suppliers.

Candidate requirements

Skills / Qualifications

An appropriate qualification in Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years of work experience would be advantageous but equivalent experience in construction execution and site management on large HV substation projects is also feasible.

Have appropriate health and safety experience, training and qualifications in line with international standards for roles of this nature to be able to identify and stop unsafe works.

Experience

Have previous experience in the installation and commissioning of key elements of the project including, but not limited to the following:

  • Civil Works
  • Building services & auxiliaries
  • HV & MV equipment
  • Control & Protection system

Experience in HVDC systems is a plus.

Knowledge

  • Be knowledgeable on international standards and 'best practice' in relation to construction
  • Be knowledgeable on environmental legislation and good industry practice in relation to construction works
  • Be knowledgeable on the key applicable standards and specifications associated with the civil and electrical works construction applicable for the country
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to be proactive and recommend and approve corrective actions if required

Other

  • This is a site-based position which will require extended posting on project sites across the Netherlands, valid driving license necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, and to accurately and concisely report both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in ENGLISH mandatory. However, additional language proficiency in European languages will be an added advantage.

IT proficiency including collaborative platforms & tools.
