Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Who We Are

Power Conversion and Storage business works closely with end users in energy-intense industrial applications. We focus on offering integrated electrical systems. A strategy aligned to three major macro trends: Power Stability, Energy Storage and Industrial Electrification.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the sales team to enable business growth for the region.
  • Recognized technical expert in Automation & Controls technology related to Power Generation, Distribution and Balance of plant applications including but not limited to systems engineering design/application SW for marine and other industrial applications.
  • Provide application expertise with solutions related to GE products, including power management system, propulsion control system, communications protocols, network topologies etc.
  • Lead Design and implementation of optimized control architectures that meet the product requirements, considering the existing components and future control platform evolution in the business
  • Support the Business Verticals in creating and reviewing (in conjunction with the leadership team) systems solutions as part of the process, ensuring that solutions are technically fit for purpose and that technical risk is understood and managed with contingencies identified.
  • Take lead in design reviews, task force, industrial committees, and design boards as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with required external and internal interfaces to ensure that customer requirements are understood and being achieved
  • Review solutions developed by teams and identify opportunities for improvement of process, system, or equipment to prevent errors
  • Enhance technical excellence in assigned design organizations by assessing technical depth and mentoring in relevant areas of expertise.
  • Advance power systems engineering technical knowledge (both general and domain specific)
  • Identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline are needed or where technical training is needed.
  • Establish a total quality management strategy to assure early involvement on manufacturing process/producibility matters.
  • Develop links with similar skills groups within the wider GE business to maximize the benefits of synergies.
  • Training and competency enhancement on various platforms to engineering AEs in the Consultants Segment and their associated Channels
  • Representing GE in Various conferences and Industrial forums to create brand affinity ( via White Papers, Journals or addressing forums)
  • Liaise with other GE businesses, sub-contractors and suppliers as appropriate in order to support the proposals and the business.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to the overall team as appropriate including Commissioning and Service.
  • Improve the efficiency of the engineering process, through development and use of standard engineering solutions.
  • Drive lean mind set to provide optimum technical solutions for the projects.
  • Enabling Sales to build opportunity pipelines for products and systems by enhancing the specification with customers and Design Consultants and associated Industrial End Users to get the product in the standards.
  • Provide systems engineering and Automation solutions for design consultants and shipyards for various government programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or related subject.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Automation

Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience working in system engineering design, application and testing.
  • Previous experience in Automation and power systems projects and new product initiatives.
  • Previous Experience in leading either Marine/O&G/Industry projects.
  • Experience of system integration working on multi-discipline projects
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems and controls fundamentals and working knowledge of Automation and controls as applied to marine applications
  • Working knowledge of P80i and Isagraf
  • Know how to use Real Time Simulators
