Job Description Summary

The Senior HVDC Project Manager is directly accountable for all aspects of execution of the HVDC Project. You will be responsible for scope delivery, budget management, schedule attainment, compliance, and risk management. You will lead a cross functional team of professionals to provide oversight of subcontractors. And help to reinforcing and promoting safety and quality at all levels of the project life cycle. The role has a high level of autonomy and requires a high level of accountability with strong decision-making abilities. This role reports directly to the HVDC Project Director, and will be assigned to the GE Vernova, Grid Integrations Solutions (GIS) North America (NAM) region.

High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems enable utilities to move more power further, efficiently integrate renewables, interconnect grids, and improve network performance. Responsibilities:

  • Customer interface: Meeting with clients, stakeholders and project managers to report on project progress and resolve key topics.
  • Support Project Director during important meetings with customer.
  • Liaise with project back-office for timely issuance of data required for preparation of site work and liaise with clients to build strong working relationships.
  • Set goals and objectives for the site managers mobilized on the Project.
  • Accountable for the Project Planning: Follow-up of project milestones (handover from ITO (receiver), KO, design freeze, engineering, procurement, assembly, FAT, site works, PAC).
  • Responsible to obtain customer inputs when required.
  • Risk and Opportunities: identification of project R&Os, definition of action plan and project execution strategy.
  • Project Financials: Sales, Billing, Cash, project review, margin deviation monitoring (BDR) and CTC via Unifier & Tableau.
  • Project Commercial topics: Change Management, Claims, VOs, LDs negotiation, Bonds, Warranty.
  • Check EHS on site conditions pre-requisites before each mobilization phase.
  • Organize kick-off meeting and progress reviews with the EM installation subcontractors.
  • Support GE site manager to drive the EM installation subcontractors and ensure that the equipment / drawings are made available on a timely manner.
  • Support GE completion manager to drive the commissioning schedule by anticipating the site team's needs in terms of resources and materials.
  • Prepare the Monthly Project reports focusing on the regional scope of works
  • Procurement/Production/Delivery/Construction: Accountable for procurement/production, communication with customer. Lead customer FATs. Shipping coordination with customer.
  • Project closing: Accountable for the Handover with customer, closing of snags, last payments, bond recollection, handle of warranty issues, perform return on experience, closing of project and transfer to Service.
  • Customers External and internal customers, all stakeholders & project team members.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project management of electrical substations.
  • Able and willing to travel 25% including international and comply with GE travel and tax guidelines.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Prior experience in managing high voltage electrical utility projects.
  • Working knowledge of HVDC configurations and technology.
  • Possess high emotional intelligence and works well in diverse teams.
  • PMP/PMI certification or equivalent with strong financial acumen.
  • Previous responsibility for projects or programs involving multiple businesses and/or functions across the entire project cycle - development and design through manufacturing, delivery, installation, and commissioning and test acceptance.
  • Ability to manage external, customer-facing projects to successful completion.
  • Ability to apply advanced technical, engineering, and quality assurance concepts to solve practical business problems.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service quality in all aspects of project delivery.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple long and short-term objectives simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with modern project management techniques & software systems, including global resource planning systems and Primavera project management software.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with contractual terms and experience managing customer-facing contracts.

The salary range for this position is 132,200.00 - 176,300.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus. 132,200.00 - 176,300.00 - 220,400.00 USD Annual
