The Senior Engineering Manager will provide leadership to a diverse technical team of managers, dedicated engineers and scientists, and is responsible for providing support for GVH's next generation of Light Water Reactor (LWR) the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR), next generation reactor designs (GEN 4) and to products, designs and services related to servicing our existing fleets and fuel. Work collaboratively with a global team of partners, organizations and suppliers (both internal and external) to successfully deliver for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear.
Job Description
This role is based at the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy Headquarters in Wilmington, NC
Essential Responsibilities:
The Reactor Safety & Reliability sub-department consists of engineering teams specializing in the following domains: Shielding & Reactivity Control, Dose & Dispersion, Probabilistic Risk & Reliability Design, and Probabilistic Risk & Reliability Application. Coordinating with other teams in BWRX-300 Design Team, other Engineering departments, and directly interfacing with key project leaders for which the specialized skills of the sub-department are required for success will be essential.
As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will:
- Report to the Engineering General Manager of BWRX-300 Design
- Provide technical and managerial leadership for multiple engineering first line managers and their respective teams
- Inspire, hire, coach and ensure the development of the teams technical and leadership talent/depth
- Establish and maintain strong working relationship with other internal engineering team managers, business leaders, project managers and stakeholders
- Interface with external partners, customers, the NRC or other applicable country specific regulatory agency, as required on technical issues
- Provide leadership supporting performance and program management of assigned work and ensure on-time fulfillment of engineering commitments in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, industry standards and regulatory agency guidelines
- Provide the oversight and be responsible to plan, organize and manage the delivery of technical activities/tasks in support of engineering deliverables
- Drive the design, development and maintenance of required systems in accordance the program/project software requirements
- Provide guidance for use of systems specifications as required by other GVH technical disciplines and project design partners
- Provide guidance and manage external resources to ensure the quality of deliverables, enable flexibility and improved cost positions
- Support commercial and marketing opportunities to develop new business opportunities
- Protect the Intellectual Property rights of GVH
- Support GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy initiatives, process improvement, simplification and design to cost
- Support GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Corrective Actions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or other STEM degree from an accredited college or university
- At least 15 years of progressive experience in engineering design and/or project leadership experience

- EPC experience and knowledge; specifically, power plants
- Understanding of nuclear industry and technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
The base pay range for this position is $152,000 to $205,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on Friday May 30th
The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
