Job Description

The DevOps and Build Engineer is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and evolving complex software delivery pipelines across multiple teams and platforms. This role collaborates closely with development, testing, and security teams to ensure the reliable and secure delivery of high-quality software.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Design and enhance CI/CD pipelines to improve automation, scalability, and performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and reduce friction in the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive efficiency by identifying and eliminating redundant processes, promoting reuse of tools and technologies, and establishing standardized practices.
  • Monitor and address third-party vulnerabilities (CVEs) across many components coordinating with other development teams as needed
  • Provide primary operational support for build and test systems
  • Directly support other teams with build and deployment issues
  • Document procedures for building and deploying distributed software applications run in Kubernetes
  • Champion DevOps best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in with advanced experience.
  • Able to legally work in Mexico. This position can work remotely only within Mexico.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with creating and maintaining common build tools including Artifactory/Nexus, Jenkins, and/or GitHub Actions (preferred)
  • Hands on Kubernetes experience required with work in Amazon EKS, or other managed Kubernetes services, preferred
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes technologies including Istio/service mesh, Grafana and Prometheus

Desired Characteristics/Technical Expertise:

  • Able to assess code, build it, and run applications locally on his/her own
  • Demonstrate expertise in writing scripts to automate tasks
  • Familiarity with principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques.
  • Exposure to deployment tools commonly used in Kubernetes environments
  • Strong communications skills with previous operational (tier 1/2/3) support experience

  • Embraces technology trends that drive excellence beyond traditional practices (e.g., Test automation in lieu of traditional QA practices).

  • Conveys the value proposition for the company by assessing financial risks and gains of decisions and return on investment (ROI). Manages the process of building and maintaining a successful alliance.
  • Understands and successfully applies common analytical techniques, including ROI, SWOT, and Gap analyses. Able to clearly articulate the business drivers relevant to a given initiative.
