We are seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead the technical coordination of either the onshore or offshore scope of a 2GW HVDC project. This role is critical to ensuring the successful delivery of complex, large-scale infrastructure projects that are central to Europe's renewable energy goals.
Please note, due to the nature of the projects, strong German language skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all design activities for the assigned project scope, ensuring timely delivery of design documents and adherence to the planned design budget.
- Supervise and coordinate engineering tasks across internal teams and external suppliers or subcontractors.
- Consolidate and manage the provisional drawing list, integrating submission deadlines and ensuring document control.
- Lead co-engineering sessions with other disciplines, partners, key suppliers, and conduct work package design reviews.
- Manage and balance design team workloads, including resource planning and arbitration.
- Ensure strict compliance with customer requirements and represent customer interests in all design decisions.
- Prepare or review technical specifications and supplier documentation to support procurement and detailed plant design.
- Evaluate design effectiveness against contract requirements, seeking cost optimization throughout all project phases, with a focus on basic design.
- Deploy and manage engineering tools such as CAD and PDM/DMS systems as per project strategy.
- Integrate Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements into project design and lead HAZID (Hazard Identification) sessions at key project stages.
- Implement key performance indicators for engineering processes and contribute to comprehensive project reporting.
- Enforce design freeze protocols and ensure EHS compliance throughout the design process.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HVDC systems, including station equipment and design.
- Proven track record in delivering large-scale engineering projects, preferably EPC contracts.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams across international interfaces.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and engineering cost control.
- Proficiency in engineering tools such as CAD and document management systems.
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken.
