Job Description Summary

The Power Systems Engineer role is for engineers who thrive on shaping the future, where innovation meets the demands of a dynamic world. There will be a strong emphasis on power electronics, power systems and systems integration. Under the guidance of lead/senior engineers, the successful candidate will take ownership of system specifications, power system studies, bill of materials, drawings, and test procedures to ensure all equipment meets customer requirements. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Job Description

Role Responsibilities:

  • Champion Safety, Quality, and Value: Ensure that all designs and methodologies prioritize safety, uphold superior quality, and deliver exceptional value.
  • Technical Specifications Expertise: Craft comprehensive technical specifications for diverse projects spanning multiple industries, including mining, metals, marine, and naval power systems.
  • End-to-End Project Ownership: Take charge of all engineering deliverables linked to specific projects. This includes maintaining power system models, conducting studies, generating drawings, compiling bills of materials, detailing specifications, and creating test and commissioning procedures.
  • Efficient Project Management: Drive projects to completion within designated schedules and allocated budgets, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Client-Centric Interface: Act as a liaison with customers, comprehensively understanding their requirements and expectations to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Sourcing Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the sourcing team to guarantee that supplier products meet precise specifications, maintaining a high standard of quality in the supply chain.
  • Technical Compliance and Support: Participate actively in the creation and verification of electrical system models, ensuring meticulous compliance with customer needs and regulatory mandates. This includes conducting analyses such as short circuit assessments, arc flash evaluations, protective relaying, and power system harmonics checks.
  • Sales Support and Enhancement: Assist the sales team by scrutinizing customer requirements, effectively highlighting any disparities or gaps between these needs and the capabilities offered by the organization.
  • Design Excellence: Play a pivotal role in design reviews, contributing expertise and insights to ensure top-notch project outcomes.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese languages
  • Familiar with MATLAB/ETAP, SKM, or other modeling tools.
