Job Description Summary

The Test Platform Lead is a highly skilled professional responsible for the end-to-end management, planning, and execution oversight of all activities within the Protection & Control (P&C) and UCOM test platform. This role involves leading and mentoring the test team, strategically coordinating pré-FAT activities, and ensuring platform readiness. Critically, this Lead will also actively perform hands-on tasks, including pre-FAT panel preparation (e.g., wiring point verification), executing minor electrical repairs, adjusting for identified failures, and implementing customer-requested corrections on panels during or after testing. This position is vital for guaranteeing the safety, quality, and efficiency of all testing operations, serving as the central point of contact, and ensuring strict adherence to established procedures.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision:

  • Lead and mentor the team of test electricians, providing guidance, support, and technical direction for all platform activities.
  • Distribute and oversee daily tasks and responsibilities, ensuring optimal workload balance and adherence to schedules.
  • Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Platform Planning & Coordination:

  • Plan and schedule all pre-Factory Acceptance Tests (pre-FATs) and related activities on the platform, aligning with production and project timelines.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Project Management) to ensure timely panel preparation, material availability, and resource allocation for testing.
  • Manage the platform's material inventory and ensure the readiness of test equipment and tools.
  • Develop and implement streamlined processes for platform operations to maximize efficiency and throughput.

Hands-On Execution & Test Support:

  • Actively perform hands-on tasks, including identifying and lifting wiring points for panel preparation before FATs.
  • Execute minor electrical repairs and adjustments on panels when failures are identified during testing.
  • Implement corrections requested by clients directly on panels, ensuring compliance and functionality.
  • Oversee and support the preparation of panels for FATs, including cable routing, fiber optic connections, and functional testing setups.
  • Monitor the execution of all tests, including gig switches, bi-stable actuation, breaker/disconnector tests, communication failure tests (fiber disconnection), power source switching, manual lockout resets, and relay actuation verification (DI/DO).
  • Provide advanced technical support for complex test scenarios and troubleshoot issues that arise during testing.
  • Ensure the proper use and calibration of test equipment, including test sets (maleta de testes).

Platform Maintenance & Infrastructure:

  • Manage the conservation and maintenance of all test materials and equipment on the platform.
  • Oversee the organization and tidiness of the platform area, including bay signaling, floor demarcation, and ensuring the integrity of damaged platforms/tables.
  • Manage the organization and conservation of the platform's material storage area.
  • Coordinate installation and maintenance of electrical outlets, workbenches, and network cables.
  • Handle basic facility concerns and coordinate external service providers within the GRID premises, ensuring safety and quality standards.

Safety & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure strict adherence to EHS policies and procedures across all platform activities.
  • Guarantee the quality of work performed on the platform, upholding established standards and procedures.
  • Lead investigations into more complex concerns (technical or operational) arising from platform activities.
  • Coordinate external activities such as material dispatch to suppliers and inspection follow-ups, ensuring compliance and quality.

Required Qualification:

  • Technical degree in Electro-electronics, Electrotechnics, or Automation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in testing Protection & Control (P&C) and UCOM panels, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory in a similar environment.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring a technical team.
  • Extensive experience in FAT accompaniment and routines within a substation simulation environment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on capability in electrical wiring, minor repairs, and adjustments on control panels.
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure setup and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
  • Solid understanding of GE MULTILIN UR equipment is a plus.
  • Proficient in interpreting functional diagrams, constructive diagrams, and network architectures.
