Perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. Includes Service Shops. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Shift supervisor for a team of production employees responsible for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost for their shift and for adherence to standards.
  • Supervise and lead front-line manufacturing employees. Typically managing hourly employee populations.
  • Expected to resolve problems through the application of acquired expertise guided by precedent.
  • Works together with people from the business unit. Contacts are under guidance and/or geared towards specifying activities, planning of activities and giving explanations on technical issues.
  • Communicates with direct team and supervisor.
  • Presents to internal teams on metrics, project status and research.
  • Ability to work in other operations to cover as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing, 2 of which are/were in a supervisory role OR Military Training).

ELIGBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime.
  • This position is 100% onsite in Schenectady, NY.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Team leadership experience, union production environment preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute plans.
  • Engineering or management degree.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified.
  • Manufacturing experience relevant to heavy duty equipment.
  • Experience running projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Established project management skills.

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this position is $90,400.00 - $103,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 10 % variable incentive compensation.
