Job Description Summary

As the Onsite Welding Engineer, you will supervise Onsite Welders and project manage complex welding repairs on large steam path equipment such as Steam Turbine rotors, shells, diaphragms, and valves. In this role you will be responsible for major and complex repair processes & controls, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities

Provide technical onsite leadership for onsite welders performing complex welding scopes on steam turbine equipment. Serve as the Onsite Services subject matter expert for all steam turbine rotor, shell, diaphragm, and valve welding repairs globally.

In addition, you will:

  • Ensure all welding repairs meet design and/or procedural requirements.
  • Create and deliver daily outage reports and/or final customer reports if required
  • Provide technical oversite for welding, pre and post weld heat treatments.
  • Manage all welding and brazing qualifications and continuity logs for onsite repair Technicians.
  • Coordinate across one field services to support JCE creation for large scale welding projects.
  • Lead or partner with other onsite service managers to complete Technical Challenge Reviews for all major welding repair projects.
  • Mentor and develop onsite repair welders.
  • Coordinate across the services business to support NPI and/or new welding repair and heat-treating methods.
  • Coach and motivate team in safety, quality, individual performance/development, and productivity improvements.
  • Drive a strategy for continuous improvement of assigned products/processes
  • Support creation of PQR and WPQR for the onsite repairs organization and its welders


  • Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience as welding supervisor, welding engineer, or AWS - CWENG, CWE certification.


  • Eligibility Requirements:
  • Ability and willingness to work 12 hour varied shifts and weekends
  • Ability to travel up to 60%


  • Desired Characteristics
  • Strong understanding of GTAW and SMAW welding process
  • Knowledge of ASME IX and/or AWS welding qualification testing
  • Experience in the power generation industry
  • Knowledge of Boiler Pressure Vessel Code
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $91,400-$115,000 USD Annual.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This Senior Professional Band position is also eligible for A Variable Incentive (VIC PW ) Bonus of 10%.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
