Job Description Summary

We are looking for Program Manager to join our global FACTS New Product Introduction (NPI) team. The position will be based in Tampere, Finland.

Grid Solutions delivers mainly high power (>100MVAr) Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC), Fixed Series Capacitors (FSC) and Synchronous Condensers (SC). These are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow as well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency. FACTS devices are also typically used to enable the integration of renewables to the power system making the future power system more sustainable. Energy transformation towards generation of electricity from renewables have significantly increased the markets for FACTS devices and R&D needs for the products. The Product Delivery Group (PDG) of power electronics-based products STATCOM and SVC is in Tampere, Finland, while the PDG of FSC and SC is in Saratoga Springs, United States.

In this position, you will be NPI team leader and have responsibility on research and development programs around SVC and STATCOM solutions. You will be reporting to global FACTS NPI Program Manager. Special focus will be on valve evolution and cost-optimization projects. Main task in this position is to make sure that all R&D projects are on time and on budget.

Experience on power electronics devices, systems, and components as well as cyber security requirements are appreciated. Background and understanding of power systems are considered as a significant benefit. In this role, you have opportunity to work on international environment and get insight on state-of-the-art technology used in high-power grid-connected power-electronic applications. In addition, you have real possibility to contribute to more sustainable and climate friendly future power grid.
