Job Description Summary

GSI is the Grid System Integration business of GE Vernova's Grid Solutions, that provides TurnKey substations, either Self-Implement (TKSI) or with Partner (TKP), for Alternative Current (AC) and/or Direct Current (DC), on-shore and/or off-shore. GSI is a leading player in decarbonizing the energy mix, through its leading range of innovative solutions.
The North America HVDC Tendering Leader will work on Large & complex multi-year HVDC Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects, usually worth >$500M and up to a couple of billion dollars. This job is reporting to the GSI North America Commercial Leader. Most of the work will be in the Tendering phase (Inquiry To Order : "ITO"), in close coordination with the Sales Team (Capture Team, Key Account Manager, Business Development) & Regional/Central Engineering Team

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead a small tendering team; develop proposals for large complex projects; interaction with customers; ensure deals deliver shareholder value; drive market pricing. Will include compiling and submitting required tender documentation.
  • Developing commercial expertise across HVDC product line, markets, sales processes, and, customer groups.
  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.
  • Leads others to find creative solutions to address complex projects, markets, sales processes, or customers. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • Leader with direct reports who has the ability to attract and retain talent. May lead functional teams or projects to address resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates complex messages and negotiates mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college with a STEM (Science Technology, Engineering or Math) degree with at least 6 years of directly related work experience in the electrical utilities transmission market
  • This role requires at least 5 years of experience in Sales & Proposals.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems, as well as demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects

Desired Characteristics

  • Electrical or mechanical engineering background with a technical aptitude
  • Knowledge in the HV Transmission Market
  • Knowledge of HVDC Systems.
