*2nd Shift

As a Manufacturing Operator - Process Equipment Operator A you can perform a variety of roles within the job classification that involve things such as startup, shutdown, operation and control the FCO chemical clean lines, heat treat, tube sampling, autoclaving, and other processes. You will operate, monitor, change and control assigned processes to assure an acceptable condition is maintained at all times in order to assure a quality product. Role requires frequent crane movement. In house training will be provided.

This position is for 2nd shift. Working hours are 3pm-11pm, Monday-Friday. Overtime may be necessary at times to support business need.

The starting pay for this position will be $27.61/hour progressing to $28.92/hour after 6 months of satisfactory performance. While working the off-shift, you will receive an additional night-shift adder of $1, this transitions to 10% after 5 years of service.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Maintain level and specifications of process tanks, such as degrease, HF acid, HNO3, and NaOH using appropriate specifications, will maintain correct temperatures, water flows, gas flows, travel speed, cycle times, etc.
  • Measure, with a precise degree of accuracy, product processed through the clean room area.
  • Perform audits and check on gauges, pumps, valves, and related process and inspection equipment.
  • Use gages to monitor product.
  • Read and understand method sheets, process instruction, QC plans, written or verbal instructions from authorized personnel.
  • Load/unload autoclave, anneal furnaces, heat treat, clean tanks, and driers. Inspect product before and after to assure quality and also to keep equipment from being harmed. Monitor the process using the readouts on multiple gauges and recorders. Make changes/decisions concerning the operation sequence based on instrument readings.
  • Program furnaces, heat treat using a programmable controller for differing products.
  • Maintain levels and monitor specifications of process tanks, such as degrease, caustic solution, etch, and deionized water. Coordinate a decision concerning the operation continuance during out-of-spec conditions.
  • Take heat treated tube samples, etch and polish them, and then examine the grain characteristics using a microscope to verify adequate penetration. Based on their analysis, they will release material to the next operation.
  • Partner with other team members, production, and area engineer to on day-to-day tasks, troubleshooting, quality excursion, and other shop initiatives.
  • Operate the tube sample station to remove, prep and input tube samples for lab results based on issued procedures and input from Engineering, Production Control or QC.
  • Interpret out-of-parameter conditions and using judgment aided by operating instructions, provide prompt corrective action and counsel as to their causative factors.
  • Complete operating summary reports. Maintain records of shift operation. Complete product sample traveler and follow product sampling routine ensuring that traceability and anti-commingling requirements are met.
  • Operate cranes, fork lifts and monorails in a safe manner to protect equipment, product and personnel. Must continuously exercise safety precautions.
  • Train incoming team members in certified processes
  • Support shop by working needed overtime, and filling in other roles where there are gaps
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a highschool diploma
  • Experience with programmable controller and personal computers and utilize them during equipment operation
  • Experience reading and interpreting various gauges including temperature gauges, chart recorders, flow meters, level indicators, and related measuring devices, then make decisions accordingly
  • Experience operating equipment, such as 5-ton cranes, monorails, forklifts in a safe manner to protect equipment, product, and personnel while loading/unloading product into tight fitting vessels.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be proficient with basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and Shop Math, including decimals and fractions.
  • Required to work shift work in accordance with business needs. Will be expected to respond to scheduled overtime, hold over, or emergency call-in as required.
  • Must be physically able to manually lift of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have high aptitude to acquire working knowledge of pressure, temperature, and chemical effects on zircaloy product.
  • Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20. Vision and color blindness test may be required, depending on assignment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated (past experience acceptable) mechanical abilities
  • Experience working in clean or chemical processes
