Job Description Summary
The Lead Service Specialist - M&D and Protection, is responsible for handling all test & commissioning (T&S) of M&D and protection (CCS) and BBP Projects for all GEV-GA projects, including on-shore, off-shore, in UAE and to support Oman.
The role is based in Abu Dhabi.

The Lead Service Specialist - M&D and Protection will closely coordinate his activities with M&D and CCS Engineering & Field Service team, Project management, Application and After Sales.
This position will report to GA Gulf Cluster Engineering & Field Services leader.
What you'll do
- Shall be capable of preparing M&D and protection relays configuration, setting adaption, signal list from Schematics and other applicable documents.
- Shall have sufficient experience to prepare Interlocking documents from Main PLD, SLD and engineering documents.
- Able to handle, configure, installation, and testing the monitor and manage critical assets on the electrical grid, detect and diagnose issues and provide expert information and services to customers.
- Mange all asset monitoring and diagnostics solutions for single- and multi-gas transformer DGA, enhanced transformer solutions and switchgear monitoring, as well as software and services.
- Responsible for the resource planning of the FS commissioning team for running projects.
- Manage resource planning and workload to ensure a 90% and above billable ratio for assigned projects/sites.
- Responsible for the Field Services activity of the Substation Automation Systems including CCS/BBP/Protection/merging unit and Cyber security related to such devices.
- Take the complete ownership of technical activities for assigned projects (EHS coordination and follow up, Site Survey, Engineering, Design, Follow Up and Support Panels Integration, Pre-FAT Internal Validation, FAT with customer, Supervise Site installations, Conduct Site Testing and commissioning, Site Red mark-up and As Built Drawings, protection system and relays troubleshooting and rectification.
- Handling all Production documents (Wiring Table/Label list/Cable Schedule/Inter-panel wiring files), CT/VT Adequacy check, Relay setting calculations, and update all protection relays and system accordingly.
- Experienced in all protection relays software, test kits, and Microsoft office.
- Perform, coordinate, and record tests for protection, digital inputs, controls, measurements, interlocks, IEC61850 IED's and SCS signals from protection relays and M&D devices.
- Perform, coordinate, and record tests for protection complex functionalities (load shedding, Auto recloser, Breaker failure, Busbar, etc...
- Inform and report on time to the CCS Engineer in charge.
- Prepare As-Built documentation for CCS/Protection/BBP/M&D documents.
- Prepare images and backups for PCs installed at the site.
- Demonstrate good communication and writing skills, with experience in preparing and presenting reports to multiple persons.
- Lead the installation of the CCS/BBP/Protection/M&D systems at the site (Fiber optic layout, PC installation at panels, wiring, CCS installation, and testing).
- Prepare and install labels for CCS, Fiber optics and Ethernet cables.
- Project planning to ensure timely achievement of project milestones as per project schedule
- Responsible for FS installation, erection, and commissioning activities at sites.
- Shall experience in troubleshooting of DC/Protection system/network connectivity at field
- Shall have sufficient knowledge about network protocols in Substations to prepare the required CID/MCL/etc... files related to IEDs/Protection relays/M&D, etc...
- Support the operations team to control projects effectively in terms of budgeted profitability, planning, and general reporting (internal/external). Ensure that agreements with customers for documentation lead times, delivery, reliability, and quality are achieved within the budgetary constraints agreed upon within the unit.
- Coordinate workplace EHS issues and ensure the availability of suitable PPE for T&C personnel, both internal and subcontracted.
- Ensure commitments to customers are met in accordance with the contract, with clear feedback through consistent customer interaction (e.g., communication via phone, email, etc.) and customer meetings, periodic reviews, etc., for assigned projects/sites.
- Lead and manage the team to ensure performance standards, annual objectives and policies are met.
- Knowledge of schemes and application of IEDs (e.g., BCUs, BMPs, BCUPs, protection relays, controllers, etc.) in electrical networks, including HV & EHV systems, and state-of-the-art technologies in substation automation.
- Have experience for busbar protection engineering and site works.
- Revise drawings against comments and replying to customer / Consultant comments.
- Provide technical clarification to Suppliers/Customers.
- Coordinating with panel manufacturer.
- Knowledge of competitor products is advantageous.
- Knowledge on GE protection / IEDs Software is preferable

What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering.
- Minimum 6 years' experience in the relevant field.
- Experienced in GE protection relays (MiCOM, UR relays) and all GE protection solutions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English; Arabic is an added value.
- Knowledge of GE-GA products and systems, especially protection relays and systems.
- Knowledge of Sequencing & interlocking principles used in substation automation systems and their implementation on IEC61850 IED's.
- Knowledge of Cyber security solutions implementation in the field of Substation Automation.
- Proficient in PC installation and troubleshooting, software installation and Microsoft Office software.
- Experience in protection testing and commissioning.
- Understanding of substation electrical drawings.
- Understanding of concepts for Substation Control Systems.
- Protocols knowledge (T101, T103, T104, IEC61850, Modbus).
- No travel restrictions.
