As a Lead Robotics and Autonomous Systems Engineer you will work with GE Research, GE Businesses, and external customers to define, build, and execute strategic research and development programs focused in Robotics and Autonomous Systems.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop new technology concepts with strategic impact focused in robotics and autonomy, including robot software system design, system integration, and human-robot interaction.
  • Actively lead and participate in design, architecture, and development efforts.
  • Engage with internal and external thought leaders across the robotics technology stack to drive new concepts and applications.

Position Requirements

  • BS + 7 years experience or MS + 5 years experience or PhD + 2 years experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with experience in design and development of robotic software.
  • Strong execution track record.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
  • Significant experience in systems architecture, design, and system integration.
  • Significant experience programming in C/C++/Python.
  • Significant experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS).
  • Significant experience in software engineering and software architecture
  • Experience in path/motion planning, kinematic and dynamic modeling of robots.
  • Experience developing camera and sensor drivers
  • Significant Experience in integrating software, mechanical, and electrical components into working systems.
  • Experience with robotic perception, sensor fusion, and computer vision.
  • Possess superior problem-solving skills and independent decision-making abilities, all while operating in an extremely demanding, fast-paced team setting.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY

Desired Characteristics

  • 3 or more years working in a defense or industrial domain.
  • Active secret or above clearance.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert high-level customer needs into a technical development strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Communicate effectively both in written and oral English.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, willing to pursue new technical areas and capable of working independently.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $175,000 USD, annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
