Job Description

Our Lead Electrical (Service) Engineers are essential to the successful execution and enhancement of our systems. They provide technical leadership and customer-facing support, overseeing service activities to ensure the delivery of valuable system solutions with excellent operational rigor, including upgrading existing systems through CM&U (Controls, Modifications & Upgrades) initiatives.

We are looking for 5 Lead Service Engineers to cover the following areas of the business - Marine Offshore, Naval, Power Systems, Switchboard/Protection, Level 2/Substation Automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technically a multidiscipline project team of engineers specializing in power systems, power conversion, automation, control, and mechanical integration to ensure service solutions meet customer, contract, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership, advice, and assistance to the overall service team, including Commissioning, Service, and third parties.
  • Support the Service Engineering Manager as required. Plan and progress all service-related activities, including testing, commissioning, and upgrades for specific projects.
  • Monitor, control, and manage service engineering project budgets, project documentation, risk management processes, design reviews, and quality & change control systems in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Support improvement initiatives and 'cost out' plans in collaboration with teams from other business units.

Qualifications and Experience:

A mix of the following skills is preferred, and we understand not everyone will meet all of these requirements:

  • Experience in an engineering leadership environment, particularly in service roles.
  • Experience in application engineering in one or more fields, such as power engineering, electrical drive systems, grid-connected systems, and automation.
  • Experience in specifying components such as drives, motors, transformers, and switchboards.
  • Experience in design and system integration working on complex multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Experience in any field of power generation, conversion, transmission, and distribution, with a focus on service and upgrades.
  • Expertise in LV and MV variable speed drives and motors.
  • Proven ability to lead large multi-disciplinary project teams and manage service operations efficiently.
  • Ability to multitask on various tasks within strict time scales.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Customer-centric mindset, with experience in translating customer issues/needs into effective service solutions.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Minimum Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar degree with suitable industry experience.

This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
