The Lead Counsel, Advanced Research Center, will manage the team that supports the complete range of legal operations at GE Vernova's Advanced Research Center (ARC). The ARC is a hub for innovation where research and development meet strategy creation, partnership building, and engineering genius. This role demands a leader with exceptional judgment and experience in managing complex legal issues. This role will report to the Chief Technology Counsel.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the Advanced Research Center (ARC) as the key strategic partner in the legal function and provide sound advice to ARC leadership and team members on legal and compliance matters.
- Interpret complex laws and regulations and provide expertise on legal issues to drive compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including: (i) U.S. government and commercial agreements, including FAR-based contracts and subcontracts, Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), international commercial transaction, other transaction agreements, and teaming or joint venture agreements; (ii) intellectual property issues; and (iii) privacy, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence issues.
- Collaborate with other parts of the business, including other legal peers and functional organizations (e.g., Labor & Employment, Business Development).
- Draft or assist in drafting legal, business, or commercial communications to internal stakeholders and third parties, including government agencies.
- Conduct presentations for various purposes and audiences (e.g., presenting legal matters to senior business or legal leadership, training business or legal personnel on legal matters).
- Manage budget and outside counsel matters in area of responsibility.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team to achieve organizational goals. Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior legal role, preferably within a research or technology-focused environment.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction and/or qualifications required to obtain a Corporate Registration with the New York State Bar.
- Relevant Experience in working with U.S. Government Contracts and Financial Assistance Agreements
- Must be willing to work full-time in an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
- U.S citizenship required in order to support U.S. Government Contracts and Financial Assistance Agreements
- Currently possesses or able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.•

The base pay range for this position is $176,300-$293,800. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This position will be posted until at least 6/30/2025.
