As a member of the Process and Controls Engineering Team, you will be an active contributor in support of the Clean Combustion Parts and Services business. Your main responsibilities will be working on studies, tenders and contracts. This role will require you to work cross functionally developing controls solutions based on customer needs and solving complex problems across the Clean Combustion product line of utility and industrial boilers. You will work as a team player and at times as a task leader responsible for planning/execution.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, evaluate, introduce, and manage engineering solutions for boiler equipment and process control, sensors, and control system technology needs. Apply control theory and mathematical modeling to the design and control power plant systems. Required control system behaviors include ensuring human, equipment, and environmental safety, managing equipment operability, setting operating boundaries, and cycle optimization. Technologies include burner management systems, open and closed loop control logic, control related software, sensors, and feedback to control the performance of devices, subsystems and systems.
  • Develop complete hour estimate, schedule and material lists for cost estimating from engineering selections and customer requirements.
  • Provide written descriptions of control systems in the tendering and contract phases of the project including instruction manuals, training material and presentations.
  • Create engineering selections and specifications for procurement and evaluate supplier quotes.
  • Prepare clear, concise and accurate logic, cabinet and wiring drawings, piping and instrumentation drawings, schematics and documentation to fulfill contract requirements.
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (other engineering groups, customers, suppliers, projects, tendering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, etc.)
  • Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to develop solutions.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Uses technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Electrical or Controls or Mechanical Engineering (or Equivalent Engineering degree).
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of Utility and Industrial Boiler design and controls.
  • Understanding of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes, Burner Management Systems and Distributed Control Systems.
  • Experience working in Autocad or Autocad Electrical.
  • Independently develop control logic drawings and component specifications.
  • Experience using document management systems (PLM, MTA, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a service-focused environment which may include simultaneous projects and occasional interruptions for high-priority customer issues.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites to address controls related issues.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $108,200 - $144,300 USD Annual.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This Senior Professional Band position is also eligible for a variable incentive bonus of 15%.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
