Job Description Summary
We are seeking a skilled Metallurgical Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing samples, particularly focusing on coatings applied via Air Plasma Spray (APS) and brazing techniques. This role is critical to ensuring the quality and durability of our turbine repair processes.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Preparation: Prepare metallurgical samples for analysis, including sectioning, mounting, polishing, and etching.
- Coating Analysis: Conduct detailed analyses of coatings applied through APS and brazing, evaluating parameters such as thickness, adhesion, and microstructure.
- Microscopic Examination: Use optical and electron microscopes to examine and document the microstructure of samples.
- Mechanical Testing: Perform mechanical tests such as hardness testing, tensile testing, and other relevant tests to assess material properties.
- Data Interpretation: Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports on findings, providing insights and recommendations.
- Quality Control: Ensure all testing procedures adhere to industry and ASTM standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of all testing and analysis performed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering and production teams to integrate laboratory findings into overall quality assurance processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory processes and testing accuracy.

Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Preferred minimum of 3 years of experience in a metallurgical laboratory, with a focus on coatings and brazing.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in metallographic preparation, microscopic examination, and mechanical testing.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
