Job Description Summary
As the Valve Engineer Leader in India, you will report to the HVDC Valve Engineering Global Leader within the Product Delivery Group (PDG) of Grid Systems Integration (GSI) in GE Vernova.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the highest levels of engineering standards are applied and implemented across all Indian locations where HVDC activities take place. This role will have a country focus and require demonstrated leadership experience for teams and projects based across India.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated, dynamic and rapidly growing team of engineers working on the project activities related to HVDC applications. This is a very exciting and dynamic field of power engineering in which GE's leading contribution has worldwide recognition.

Responsibilities:
- Management of the local team of engineers involved in the design of HVDC Valves. Support those based in Indian but involved in testing and erection at sites (Onshore and Offshore platforms).
- Ensure the highest levels of safety can be achieved during any testing or installation works and is a leading voice to promote safety.
- Responsible for developing specialised knowledge across their team's disciplines. Train, coach and develop individuals to ensure understanding of the tools, processes and requirements. Proactively develop the competency of the team.
- Ensuring training and licences are up to date, especially for site intervention teams.
- Adopt local responsibility to ensure the team adhere to all Safety, Quality, HR or Financial policies - has line management in a matrix environment.
- Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Work with the teams around the globe to ensure a joined up approach to deliver the requirements of projects and alignment between engineering teams.
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve complex tasks or problems in areas of operational / product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
Candidate profile
The candidate will probably be educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline. However, this is not as important as a proven track record and evidence that you have the experience and abilities to perform the role.
Candidates should have proven experience of HVDC Valves. A good understanding of all related elements associated with the design, manufacture and installation of HVDC Valves. It is key that the candidate has the ability to work quickly and efficiently within an engineering team.
Candidates should have demonstratable experience leading teams effectively and having direct supervision of a variety of roles. Qualifications or competency in people skills and management will be required.
An ability to work within various cultures environments coupled with a desire to learn new skills and a willingness to share the knowledge are essential qualities. Ideally, the candidate will have a good track record of leading a team of engineers on a global basis.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Educated to degree level in engineering or related discipline, or
- Experience in HVDC or a related engineering field.

- This role requires significant experience in the Engineering / Technology & Systems Engineering Management
- Demonstrates Accountability in previous actions / roles.
- Ability to empower a team and show compassion in their interactions.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems.
- Experience working in a matrix organization
- Strong oral and written communication skills. High standard of English
- EHS compliance ability - good strong knowledge of safety and the environment.
Desired Characteristics:
- Prior experience of electrical transmission industry with site experience
- Able to work to deadlines with high quality
- High attention to detail.
- Has been involved in continuous improvement / LEAN activities.
