Rotating Machines Peterborough is part of GE Vernova's Power Conversion and Storage (PCS) Canadian business unit and provides design engineering capability to support the commercial and field engineering teams on Rotating machines retrofit and upgrade opportunities. These opportunities will include rotating machines for the full range of the Power Conversion portfolio, such marine, industrial, and energy applications with electrical and mechanical energy conversion systems. You will be working with both the local Services Engineering team and the broader Power Conversion Global Technology and Engineering (GTE) team to upgrade customers to the latest technology

The Position:
As part of the GEPR Energy Canada team, you will play a significant role in a special project aimed at improving technical solutions for Rotating Machines using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. Rotating Machines Peterborough (RMP) Engineering is part of GEPR Energy Canada operations and provides design engineering capability to enable rotating machine product solutions for the full range of the Power Conversion portfolio, such marine, industrial, and energy applications with electrical and mechanical energy conversion systems. You will be working with both the local Engineering team and Global Manufacturing locations to fulfill specific project requirements. The successful candidate will report to the Rotating Machines Services Engineering Leader.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Engineering intern will be working closely with the broader engineering and continuous improvement team in Nancy, France to execute several project activities related to Large Language Model (LLM) and data analytics
The primary responsibilities include many of the following:
- Studying and building different LLMs
- Costs and performance Analysis & comparison Vs different open-source LLM.
- Internal Factory Data setup to optimize the LLM Training.
- Identify which models to fine-tune. Fine-tuning of the selected models (ex: LoRA, QLoRA...).
- Fine-tuning based on Factory knowledge Operational experience
- Performance Comparison between fine-tuned models
- Evaluate the quality of the answers & optimize versus the costs. (benchmarks)
- Documentation & recommendations for production
Skills Required:
- Engineering student from various disciplines (Level 3 to Level 4) Strong background in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning - programming software tools Ability to understand business processes and documentation requirements Good oral and written communication skills
Educational Qualifications:
- Students pursuing Engineering degree - Level 3 to Level 4 from Canadian University (preferably in Ontario)
