Engineer - Steam Turbine Design

Job Description Summary

As a member of the Steam turbine design engineering, you will be an active contributor to the overall design of steam turbine components for upgrade projects and creating 3D models of and releasing the manufacturing drawings. You will be responsible for technical follow-up with vendors and making sure that equipment and systems are delivered with highest level of quality, on-time and with full compliance to codes and standards and contract requirements.

Your Role/Responsibilities

- Design of steam turbine components like, HP, IP and LP sections, bearings, flanges, valves and blading.

- Design & Detailing of various steam turbine components like casings, bearing pedestals and bearings, rotors, blades, diaphragms, couplings etc

- Prepare relevant design and quality documentation and layouts using CATIA in accordance with appropriate standards and design rules

- Define material specifications for various steam turbine component

- Carry out necessary calculations and analysis related to these components (using company software, spreadsheets or hand calculations)

- Collect, analyze and provide resolution on technical data from vendor, site or customer.

- Support technical tendering with mechanical design inputs Provide Engineering support to sourcing department to source and execute various steam turbine components

- Supporting tendering Process with Technical Tendering Layout and Retrofit Solution.

- Collaborate with global & cross-functional team of internal Steam Turbine Engineers and external stakeholders (Drafting/Global Supply Chain) enabling & fostering mutual technical growth and delivering for our customers

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Basic understanding of steam turbine design and power plant.

- Knowledge of CATIA V5 and or other 3D softwares

- Strong technical and scientific know-how and willingness to continuously extend and develop it,

- Ability to travel extensively in support of assignments

Desired Characteristics

- Familiarity with steam turbine design and working principles, including auxiliary systems

- Tendering & Project execution experience
- Experience in layout design or design analysis of turbo machinery components

- Knowledge of the manufacturing processes involved for steam turbine components

- Strong interpersonal and responsive skills
- Customer focused
