Job Description Summary
The Civil / Structural Engineer will perform design, analyses and review of New Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) within a team environment to ensure compliance of the design with Canadian codes and regulations and the CNSC Regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:
Civil/Structural engineer with expertise in design, construction and modularization of Nuclear Island structures and components. The candidate must demonstrate strong, working knowledge of static and dynamic analyses, including reinforced concrete design, structural steel design, and composite structure design.
- Primary responsibilities will be to perform structural engineering analysis, design and review of the static and dynamic analysis/qualification of nuclear power plant structures to ensure that the design meets the Canadian code requirements, and to coordinate design reviews between GE and local AE firms.
- Execute the design/ analysis and reviews of Seismic Category I and Seismic Category II structures.
- Perform structural analysis for reinforced concrete and steel framed structures for seismic, hydrodynamic, thermal, wind and tornado loads using ANSYS, SAP2000 or GT-STRUDL computer codes.
- Working knowledge of CNSC Regulatory Guides, Canadian National Building Codes and Standards.
- Perform work in compliance with policies and procedures.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
- Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Corrective Actions.
- Provide on-time, quality delivery of engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.

Eligibility Requirements
Work 5 days onsite per week (8-5) at fabrication shop at Darlington Project Site in Oshawa.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering.
Desired Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of ACI, ASCE and AWS codes and Standards.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with others.
- Fundamental knowledge of TI and BOP systems analyses and design.
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple demands and priorities
- Perform work in compliance with policies and procedures.
- PC proficiency
- Working knowledge of Canadian design codes and requirements.
- Working knowledge of FEA computer software.
