Essential Responsibilities

  • Support CAD design, manufacturing and test personnel.
  • Create manufacturing/customer drawings, cut views, layout and instructions in accordance with industrial standards and the related bill of materials.
  • BOM creation at Symix ERP
  • Perform mechanical components analysis such as Thermal, Noise, Structural and modal analysis, bearing selection and evaluation, Rotor dynamic analysis, torsional analysis and provide related documentation.
  • Understand the Global Technology & Engineering goals and objectives.
  • Participate in new software and new supplier qualification.
  • Carry out measurement plan/campaign (without limitation of skills) to get feedback from the test bench/field and work in closed loop with theory & software.
  • Read technical specifications and provide technical comment and clarification.
  • Participate in writing Engineering Design Standards & Guidance.
  • Support Commercial Operation and other Mechanical Engineers at both ITO and OTR phase.
  • Support project & fulfilment managers at OTR phase.
  • Support Test Bench for specific tests programs execution and provide inputs in case of issue.
  • Support Service Team at commissioning and after and provide inputs in case of issue.
  • Participate in the global product Standardization/rationalizations strategy.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience in areas involving design and analysis of rotating machinery
  • Advanced Oral and Written Portuguese / English
  • Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent knowledge and experience) or higher.
  • In depth knowledge of rotating machines products, their engineering challenges and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience performing engineering calculations and reviews.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex customer's specifications, engineering drawings and document.
  • Experience with mechanical design tools such as AutoCad, Creo, ANSYS, Dyrobes, MathCad and similar.
  • Self-driven
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a challenging and fast-moving environment.
  • Familiarity with application of various industry standards such as: NEMA, IEC, and API.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across the business/customers in English.

  • Experience in Vibration, Noise, Rotor Dynamics, and Torsional Analysis, with background in structural, modal, harmonic, and seismic simulations applied to rotating machinery.
  • Experience in Large Rotating Machines technical engineering environment.
  • Methodical worker with focus on attention to detail.
  • Structured in approach and well organized.
  • Knowledge and experience in using Windchill (PLM).
  • Advanced Excel.
  • Flexible approach, willing to work extended hours if required and travel as and when required.
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Flexible, motivated and driven to improve.
  • Hands on experience on bump test, vibration measurements, results interpretation and vibration issue resolution techniques.
