Job Description Summary
The EHS Officer is responsible to the Site Management for monitoring that all site employees conform fully to the relevant EHS requirements. This position has the authority to advise and instruct employees, both GE and contractors at all levels on matters relating to EHS. In addition, in case of immediate threat to life, property or environment, this position has the authority to instruct work to cease immediately until the conditions/behaviour have been satisfactorily rectified. However, this position does not take over the responsibility of each individual employer to manage their own risks and to consult their EHS professionals to ensure compliance with their legal duty.

Occupational safety
- To develop, assist operational managers and supervisors to implement this site EHS plan and ensure continual compliance by all parties engaged on GE scope with the requirements of this plan.
- To aim for "Zero" severe accident/incident and to pursue the concept that all accidents are preventable
- To minimise GE's potential liability by ensuring that GE protects itself against assertions of breaches of EHS regulation in relation to statutory compliance and provide an effective EHS advice to GE site personnel to ensure compliance with the applicable local regulation.
- To ensure that the EHS coordination of works between the different contractors includes safety matters
- To conduct regular reviews of the site EHS plan, environmental management plan, emergency response plan and any other EHS-related site-specific plan, ensuring that they remain effective and relevant to the progress of the site execution maintaining a focus on effective risk management strategies and a process of continual improvement
- To develop the site EHS induction program for all levels within the site team and ensure all personnel are familiar with their obligations and responsibilities both in terms of applicable law and this site EHS plan
- To develop and/or manage and implement appropriate educational programs in workplace health and safety and environmental awareness
- Implement an EHS audit and inspection program, making recommendations for improvement where applicable
- To work closely with, and routinely report to, the SIM on the overall state of EHS on site and the outcome of all EHS audits and inspections and any continuing non-conformance, hazards or unsafe acts or conditions identified;
- To liaise with, and to provide advice and assistance to GE and contractors' management and employees on any matter of health, safety and environment legislative compliance, effective risk management, and the implementation and compliance to the site EHS management system
- To ensure all EHS records are properly maintained
- To investigate, or assist in the investigation, of all EHS events
- To coordinate the site EHS incentive and disciplinary schemes
Loss prevention
- To ensure all preventive measures against loss of materials and production through fire, explosion, theft, unsafe storage and unsafe transportation are in compliance.
Environment
- Regularly monitor and ensure compliance of local environmental regulations (country/state).
- Take precautions against pollution, emissions (particularly SF6), energy consumption, waste management.
Health, Hygiene and Welfare
- Ensure adequate amenities are provided and in compliance with good work place hygiene standard such as proper and sufficient ventilation, clean and protected drinking water, first AID, rest room, furniture, toilet, transportation of workers.
Qualification requirements
- A bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental...etc)
- NEBOSH Certificate
- English both spoken and written for working proficiency
- Minimum 10 years of experience in site EHS function
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customer.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with EHS programs including but not limited to;

- Fire & Explosion
- Mechanical Lifting
- Work at Height,
- Work Authorization
- Emergency Preparedness & Response Management Plan
- KSA National preferred
