You are on your way to becoming a trusted advisor to the client, providing technical testing leadership expertise in the planning, design, and build of strategic Test Strategies.

Job Description

What will you as our new Quality Assurance Lead work on?

  • Engage with our utility clients to understand the impacts of distributed energy resources (DERs) on the distribution system by providing our utility clients with solutions to manage and plan for the emergence of more DERs.
  • Engage with our utility clients to understand their Business Needs and how our solution can align, meet and exceed their business needs.
  • Participate in the Requirements Management phase, leading to a complete set of approved requirements that are traceable to both the solution design and QA plan, and test cases.
  • Define success criteria and author Master Test Plans, and Test Strategies for the project.
  • Ensure test strategies are in context of current business processes and incorporates how the business uses our systems
  • Represent the QA function as needed in our internal initiatives and communicate status back to the team (internal and client).
  • Lead testing activities for assigned projects
  • Estimate and communicate quality assurance effort for assigned work
  • Identify and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure all necessary levels of testing are performed
  • Identify, mitigate, and drive product issues and risks to resolution
  • Analyze user story requirements and validate their testability
  • Log defect reports and perform retest of defects as required
  • Communicate test progress and results and other relevant information
  • Collaborate with our Service Engineering development lead during the development cycle to ensure all custom deliverables meet defined needs and standards to be fully tested.
  • Respond to all client inquiries, bugs, and product ideas for in-flight projects and file tickets for the Product team.
  • Perform use case and client specific testing runs and lead factory and site acceptance testing.
  • Define the user acceptance testing process and test cases, and articulate progress metrics.

Required Skills:

  • Education.
    • You hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar program, with a focus on power systems or relevant experience.
  • Experience.
    • 10+ years of Quality Assurance testing with a solid understanding of testing tools.
    • Experience in/with the following:
      • Testing Cloud/Web-based and/or client or server solutions applications and systems
      • Test automation and direct hands-on experience with automated testing tools
      • Performance testing practices
    • Exceptional customer engagement, presentation, crisis management and overall communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate with other team members to develop and enhance deliverables
    • Capacity to continuously improve team processes to ensure information is of the highest quality, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the team
    • Experience developing application and data customer-focused solutions based upon market and customer needs
    • Experience in the development of estimates, Statements of Work (SOWs) and proposals, outlining professional services required to meet client requirements from a QA test perspective
    • Excellent test design and documentation skills
    • Ability to exercise independent judgment, multi-task, and effectively prioritize tasks
  • Knowledge.
    • You are familiar with emerging energy industry trends and implications on utility clients in the area of DER management, distribution planning, IT, SCADA and asset management with a strong background in analysis.

    • You can quickly understand and analyze various approaches and processes and are able to configure solutions to client needs given existing product functionality. You have the ability to drill down to the details, obtaining the right level of specificity for your team. You can creatively solve complex problems.

    • Strong written and verbal communication style. Can effectively share complex technical topics with various levels of audience.
  • Client Focus.
    • You enjoy being in front of clients, listening to their needs. You are deeply focused on ensuring their success. You can create powerful user stories detailing the needs of your clients.

    • A genuine interest in new tools and technology. You learn new software quickly without extensive documentation or hand holding.

Nice to have:

  • Master's degree.
  • AWS Certification.
  • DevOps hands on experience.
  • Cybersecurity hands on experience.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions and deployment activities (Azure and / or GCP)
  • Utility integration experience (E.g. SCADA, ADMS, OT, OMS etc.)
  • Experience with power system analysis software (eg OpenDSS, CYME, Powerfactory, Synergi etc.)

Additional Information

The base pay range for this position is $ 98,400.00 - $ 123,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 15 % variable incentive compensation.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
