Job Description Summary

The Deputy Project Manager is responsible for project delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Set-up the project management plan (including strategy), adapted to Multi-Unit and Complex environment, manage the changes, and adapt the objectives & strategy accordingly; Contribute significantly to project management process improvements and delivery processes at Unit level
  • Organize and lead Gate reviews; address project management issues (roadblocks, performance, etc...)
  • Manage the entire project scope of work and analyze Customer requirements.
  • Detect errors/inconsistencies within customer requirement. Propose solutions to reduce those gaps and lead the relevant negotiations, organize works allocation for all partners from the consortium
  • Deliver the project on time
  • Produce and update Master project schedule, based on Multi-Units schedules, as well as the list of key milestones (including customers)
  • Anticipate on-time delivery issues (documents, services, equipment's) and measure project progress and anticipate actions
  • Take responsibility for the gross margin of the overall project, maximize profit and cash at each phase of project
  • Set-up targets for consortium partners, foresee costs & margins at completion, and identify cost discrepancies
  • Monitor cash evolution and take actions, develop monthly sales forecast (in close cooperation with the project controller), develop costs and revenue recovery plans
  • Optimize Costs (design to cost, negotiation QCD, etc...) and challenge productivity in all areas directly involved
  • Ensure EHS & quality requirements are followed by the Grid teams and subcontractors
  • Ensure site quality plan and commissioning procedure are followed, manage project acceptance, and set-up and monitors control criteria for quality of works (Engineering, CW, erection, tests & commissioning)
  • Set-up and drive a project and site organization teams (multi-site, multi-units ), anticipate resources allocation, optimize Project team allocation (technical leader, PM, site, finance, contract, planner, etc..)
  • Coach & give feedback in a multicultural environment, participate upon request to PEDP of selected project team members
  • Ensure all aspects of communication within the project, to promote communication between Units, and ensure Customer satisfaction through effective and healthy communication
  • Manage ongoing working relationships with at top decision makers to ensure creative solutions and influence decision
  • Provide reporting to customer, and to management
  • Monitor Multi-Units performance through project reviews, conduct Risk Sessions, Identify and implement risk mitigation plans
  • Proactively generate and manage opportunities, identify Business / Unit / multi-projects risks and opportunities
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of contract management with the Customer, suppliers and partners for the overall project(s), ensure full understanding of the Contractual requirements by project team
  • Build complex claim and VO's files involving different levels of Customer / Partner(s) / Supplier(s) organization, challenge & negotiate T&C's, claims and VO's
  • Define, monitor and control Customer / Partners / Supplier(s) strategy with regards VO's & claims, plan & follow procurement & delivery in coordination with procurement department.
  • Support procurement department in supplier relationship & conflict management.
  • Evaluate quality of deliveries: on-time deliveries, quality of products supplied, quality of services supplied (documentation...)

Required Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor's Degree level or equivalent education
  • Registered in Saudi consulate of engineering (SCE)
  • Fluent in Arabic and English
  • PMP certified
  • 4-5 years of experience managing large and complex projects
  • The legal right to work in KSA without company sponsorship or time restriction, KSA National preferred.

Desired Characteristics

  • Management of projects within a consortium or partnership environment
  • Project Management in an international environment, with experience in multi-disciplinary teams, and high project local content with financial, technical and commercial risk
  • Experience of team building and team culture development
  • Proven track record of significant improvement of project margin
  • Experience of P&L objectives
  • Working in Saudi Arabia within GE organization, and willingness to work in different locations for short or medium periods and to travel world-wide.
  • Experience in 132kv and 380kV S/s field along with extension projects
  • Experience with SEC / NG projects.
