Job Description Summary
In this role, you will support GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy's new plant project procurement efforts throughout the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) lifecycle of new and advanced nuclear projects. You will work cross-functionally and globally, in close partnership with GE Hitachi (GEH) business teams, to develop and execute complex Procurement Packages in support of GEH's Small Modular Reactor (SMR). You will also work closely with suppliers and GEH business teams to execute on key sourcing operations and project deliverables. Your focus will be on emphasis on mechanical reactor vessel internals to be delivered by Japanese suppliers.

- Overall responsibility for large, complex Procurement Packages spanning the entire EPC lifecycle of new build projects, with initial focus on mechanical reactor vessel internals to be delivered by Japanese suppliers.
- Provide key procurement process interface with Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, Suppliers, Projects, Logistics, Commercial, Construction and Site personnel.
- Work with Sourcing Commodity Leaders to develop work plans and Sourcing schedule activities.
- Work with Project Engineers and Schedulers to include activities into project schedule.
- Work closely with Engineering and Quality to develop Procurement Packages.
- Send Procurement Packages and associated documents to suppliers for RFx and orders.
- Point of contact for supplier technical, quality, manufacturing questions and issue resolution .
- Work closely with Sourcing and Quality leaders to manage supplier performance.
- Oversee supplier schedule and progress updates.
- Serve as the lead supplier interface through manufacturing, testing, inspection, and delivery to site.
- Point of contact for GEH teams to interface with the supplier.
- Facilitate coordination to input and harmonize supplier schedule and project construction schedule.
- Support Lean culture by working cross functionally to improve purchasing process and supporting systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college / university with a minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing, project management, commercial, engineering, manufacturing, or quality discipline in a highly technical and/or highly regulated industry and 3 years demonstrated background and experience in mechanical applications for nuclear, energy, power, or industrial business.
OR
- High school diploma and 10 years of experience in procurement engineering (or closely related field) in a highly technical and/or highly regulated industry and 3 years demonstrated background and experience in mechanical applications for nuclear, energy, power, or industrial business.
Eligibility Requirements
- Occasional travel may be required
- Ability to operate a computer proficiently.
- Fluent in Japanese and English
Desired Characteristics
- Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, business, or engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Nuclear industry experience; Working knowledge of Nuclear Codes & Standards as they relate to procurement activities.
- Basic technical knowledge, including (a) ability to read and understand engineering drawings, (b) basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical and materials component manufacturing specifications.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and leadership skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Effective problem identification and solution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities. Strong planning and time management skills.
- Capable of working successfully in a matrix organization to drive results
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects to completion, including cost and schedule control.
