The AI Technical Product Engineer will manage coordination, governance, and execution tracking across the full lifecycle of AI initiatives. As the operational anchor of the AI program, this role ensures that projects-from ideation through deployment-are scoped, resourced, prioritized, and aligned with business KPIs. Responsibilities include project management, stakeholder communication, compliance tracking (e.g., export control, data policy), and vendor coordination. This individual will also oversee the intake process, maintain the use case portfolio, and drive consistency across programs. Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills are essential. This role ensures a sustainable, scalable approach to AI implementation across the enterprise.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Owns and manages digital/software product and system definitions, requirements, specifications, roadmap and lifecycle.
  • Owns and manages the backlog; continuously orders and prioritizes features and backlog items.
  • Demonstrates advanced level skills in problem decomposition and ability to navigate through ambiguity in work requests/requirements to create actionable user stories/work units.
  • Ensures that policies are followed, schedules are met, and risks are understood, documented, and communicated to stakeholders.
  • Compliance tracking (e.g., export control, data policy).
  • Coordination with vendors.
  • Oversee the intake process, maintain the use case portfolio, and drive consistency across programs.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Uses judgment and tools to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of the technology stack and impact on final product.
  • Understands component and product integration across related system functions to ensure product rationalization, performance, and operability.
  • Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure quality delivery within area of responsibility for both internal and external customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related quantitative field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product management.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

  • Understands the technology landscape, up to date on current technology trends and new technology, brings new ideas to the team.

  • Learns organization vision statement and decision making framework. Able to understand how team and personal goals/objectives contribute to the organization vision.
  • Strong oral/written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong proficiency in Python.
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning), and experimental design.
  • Deep expertise in model development, pre-training, and implementation of AI algorithms-including vision AI, predictive analytics, LLM-based applications, and anomaly detection.
  • Familiarity with cloud AI platforms, and experience with MLOps pipelines are essential.
  • Experience with SQL and working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Experience using modern development tooling such as Git and testing frameworks.
  • General understanding of the impacts of technology choice to the software development life.
  • Aware of methods and practices such as Lean/Agile/XP, etc.
  • General understanding of the impacts of technology choice to the software development life cycle.

The base pay range for this position is $99K - $130K. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 7/22/25.

The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
