Job Description Summary
Advanced Engineer - Plant Quality responsible for leading advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections, managing quality digital systems, and driving tactical quality improvement projects at the Dabaspet factory. The role requires knowledge in measurement tools, Inspection of blades to identify defects, repairs, and execution of improvement projects addressing defect reduction and process discipline. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement by collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders across manufacturing, engineering, and quality.
Product quality review associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ownership includes both quality assurance and quality control. Includes quality assurance of products, services, manufacturing processes. Includes conformance in manufacturing, incoming goods control, product inspection, witness points, etc.
- Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
- Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.
- NDT & Inspection
- Perform NDT scanning using advanced techniques such as Phased Array and B-scan in line with established procedures.
- Review and interpret NDT data to identify product defects, anomalies, and compliance with acceptance criteria.
- Provide scan reviews and technical support for both in-factory and field inspection teams.
- Contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) by supplying NDT-related evidence, insights, and technical expertise.
- Ensure accurate documentation of inspections, test results, and compliance with standards and customer requirements.
Quality Systems & Governance
- Govern and manage Axapta Quality Module (production NCRs, process NCRs, quality inspections, customer certificates). Handle blade type setup, test/validate changes, coordinate with IT/developers for enhancements.
- Ensure effective usage of Gensuite and Quality Suite for audits, CAPAs, and quality issues. Maintain governance, drive enhancements, and enable effective closure of issues.
- Manage GE forms for inspection photo documentation, optimization, and digital storage.
- Track and report KPIs for NCRs, CAPAs, alerts, and blade-specific quality metrics.
- Ensure governance and compliance of quality processes and reporting in line with LM/GE standards and customer requirements.
Tactical Quality Improvement Projects
- Lead and execute tactical projects to reduce defect generation and improve first-time-right (FTR) performance.
- Support kaizen events, lean problem-solving, and cross-functional projects targeting quality and productivity improvements.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and quality teams to implement corrective and preventive actions from QIs, customer feedback, and internal audits.
- Provide insights from inspections, quality data, and field returns to drive improvement projects.
- Develop and sustain best practices to strengthen inspection adequacy, defect detection, and process control.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Materials, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Diploma holders with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
- Formal training and certification in Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT Level I/II ) in UT/Phased Array.
- Additional certifications in Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt) will be an advantage .
Desired Characteristics
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing quality, including NDT and quality systems.
- Level I or II certification in NDT (UT/Phased Array) with experience in composite inspections and data analysis.
- Experience in quality tools (Axapta, Gensuite, Quality Suite, SAP, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of CAPA, NCR, RCA, quality alerts, and governance processes.
- Problem-solving skills with exposure to lean/kaizen, process improvements, or tactical projects.
- Data analysis and reporting proficiency; Excel/Power BI experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with composites or heavy manufacturing (wind turbine blades preferred).
