Job Description Summary
As a 3rd Party Buyer for Steam Blades within the Steam Blade Center of Excellence (CoE), you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement and management of steam blade components from external suppliers, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery performance to support global business needs. You may also coordinate an external pool of contractors engaged in third-party buying activities.
Job Description
Roles and responsibilities:
- Place and follow up on purchase orders (POs) for steam blade components with external suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate order execution.
- Manage relationships with 3rd party suppliers, serving as the primary contact for PO execution, issue resolution, and ongoing performance discussions.
- Resolve supply issues, schedule changes, and exceptions, escalating to Supply Manager or Sourcing as needed.
- Ensure compliance with sourcing policies, quality standards, and contractual requirements in all procurement activities.
- Conduct supplier negotiations for pricing, lead time, and terms in line with business objectives and cost reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with Supply Manager, Sourcing Manager, and Demand Manager to align procurement activities with supply allocation, capacity planning, and demand requirements.
- Support supplier qualification and onboarding processes, working with quality and engineering as needed.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, responsiveness) and provide feedback or corrective actions as required.
- Contribute to cost reduction projects, supplier development initiatives, and process improvements under guidance or as part of cross-functional teams.
- Prepare and maintain accurate procurement documentation and reporting in ERP and related systems.
- Actively participate in supplier performance reviews and business meetings as required.
- Coordinate and oversee the activities of an external pool of contractors supporting third-party buying, ensuring alignment with procurement standards and business objectives.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (preferred: Supply Chain, Engineering, Business) OR a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in procurement or supply chain planning.
- Additional minimum of 2 years' experience in procurement or supply chain planning, including direct experience with external suppliers.
- SAP or similar ERP experience in a procurement environment.
- Fluent in English.

Desired characteristics:
- Experience buying engineered components or commodities in an industrial/manufacturing environment, preferably blades or similar parts.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including ability to document, plan, and execute procurement activities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Proven problem-solving and issue resolution abilities.
- Experience working with Lean or continuous improvement initiatives is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
- Experience coordinating or managing contractors or third-party service providers is an advantage.
