Role
Are you ready to step out of the lab but still want to stay close to the science? As a Senior Associate, Lab Operations, you will play a key role in shaping the way our labs run: efficiently, innovatively, and with scalability in mind. You will be part of our Global Lab Management team, working in close partnership with Research Associates, Laboratory Monitors, Lab Services, Facility Operations, and IT to ensure that our research teams have the best environment to do their groundbreaking work.
This role is a great match if you have a background in medical or life sciences, a few years of hands-on lab experience, and are looking for that next step, one that keeps you connected to science while letting you apply your skills to optimizing operations behind the scenes. You will report to the Associate Director Lab Operations NL and be based in a collaborative team!
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with laboratory monitors to ensure alignment on lab-wide workflows and standard procedures.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, optimize efficiency, and provide strategic insights to management through dashboards (e.g., Power BI).
- Support dashboard and report creation for senior leadership and management teams.
- Drive and deliver project-based process improvement initiatives using LEAN/5S methodologies from planning through implementation.; Green Belt certification is highly preferred.
- Act as a key liaison between lab users and IT, supporting system implementations and translating lab needs into technical requirements.
- Lead lab relocations and refurbishments, collecting and aligning requirements, ensuring optimal use of space and equipment and continuity in lab processes.
- Ensure business continuity by assisting teams with creation of Business Impact Analyses and Business Continuity Plans, as well as monitor business continuity related processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's (HBO) or Master's degree in a Life Science discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory or lab operations setting.
- Proven ability to translate workflows into effective and scalable processes.
- Experience in process optimization using LEAN/5S principles; Green Belt certification is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated affinity with IT, ideally with experience acting as a connector between technical and scientific teams.
- Experience with data analysis and dashboard creation using tools like Power BI.
- Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English (Full Professional Proficiency).
- Proactive, pragmatic, and solution-oriented approach with a high level of integrity.
- Able to collaborate and communicate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and work independently.
