Hybrid This role is hybrid. Requiring the employee to be onsite an average of 3 days per week at Warren or Milford locations

The Role
The technical expert for Vehicle Alignment will be the representative for Manufacturing Engineering in various forums, from working with product engineering to innovating alignment equipment with suppliers. The tech expert is the global expert for vehicle alignment and uses their expertise and influence to continually improve manufacturing processes. They are expert for the mechanical aspects of the process as well as the communication and dataflow between the equipment, test systems and plant floor systems.

  • Collaborate cross functionally with product and PI teams to drive product optimized for automation and efficient production.
  • Early involvement with product development to understand impact of new developments on the alignment system.
  • Develop systems and documentation for data driven problem solving.
  • Provide guidance and expert support for plan issues that go beyond the expertise of the local teams.
  • Leadership of global teams to develop and maintain standards for vehicle alignment equipment and data related to the process.
  • Develop new and innovative manufacturing processes and equipment concepts related to automated Vehicle alignment and develop a vision for "Factory of the Future."
  • Provide guidance to supplier and execution teams for process and equipment design and problem resolution.
  • Maintain and share documentation and manufacturing standards regarding Vehicle Alignment.
  • Maintain and improve communication protocols between equipment, vehicle test and plant systems.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering or 8+ years of equivalent automotive industry experience in manufacturing, execution, tooling.
  • 5+ years experience in Alignment systems.
  • Extensive experience with manufacturing processes for alignment systems.
  • Extensive experience in data driven problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally with product, program, and plant teams to develop and implement new manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead global initiatives that comprehend and adapt to meet unique regional needs while maximizing core reuse and commonality.

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Familiar with GM controls systems.
  • Familiar with Burke Porter and Fori Alignment equipment.
  • Execution, tooling, and GA experience in Vehicle Systems.
  • IT, cybersecurity, and MERS experience.
  • Cross functionally recognized expert in alignment technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive manufacturing requirements with the product development team.
  • Working knowledge of product requirements for night vision, long range radar and FCM calibration.
