Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Mountain View, CA, Detroit, MI or Washington D.C. three times per week, at minimum.

The Role:

The Strategic Initiatives Lead will serve as a senior partner to the Head of Philanthropy, driving the implementation of high-priority initiatives that extend GM's philanthropic reach and impact. This role will translate the Head of Philanthropy's strategic direction into actionable plans, ensuring initiatives are delivered with measurable results and compelling narratives. The Strategic Initiatives Lead will cultivate and manage select external partnerships, strengthen the team's storytelling capabilities, and work cross-functionally to integrate philanthropy into GM's broader business and policy objectives.

What You'll Do:

  • Co-assist in strategy delivery by translating the Head of Philanthropy's vision into clear workplans, milestones, and outcomes.
  • Lead execution of flagship, cross-cutting initiatives that advance GM's brand, strengthen community impact, and amplify corporate giving's storytelling and external presence.
  • Cultivate and steward strategic partner relationships, ensuring alignment with philanthropic priorities and enterprise goals.
  • Develop high-impact narratives, case studies, and thought leadership pieces in partnership with GM Brand and Communications.
  • Serve as a central point of coordination across internal teams (Brand, Policy, Communications, and Business Units) to advance philanthropic initiatives.
  • Track progress against key initiatives, synthesizing results and preparing updates for executive leadership.
  • Identify emerging opportunities to advance the philanthropic strategy and recommend actionable next steps.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 10+ years in philanthropy, policy, corporate affairs, public-private partnerships, or related leadership roles.
  • Proven experience delivering complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft and present compelling narratives.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with experience cultivating senior-level external partners.
  • Ability to work across functions and translate strategic vision into measurable results.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this role is $167,100 - $256,100. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
