Staff Technical Program Manager, Simulation Evaluation and Data

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical Innovation Center in Mountain View, CA three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

We are seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead Simulation evaluation strategy and execution for GM's enterprise Autonomous Driving Program. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) within the Simulation Evaluation and Data team at GM, you will play a critical role in driving the development, testing, and delivery of complex, large-scale systems.

You will be responsible for running project timelines, resources, and scope across multiple teams, ensuring alignment among all partners, and driving projects efficiently. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and critical thinking to innovate and drive the team toward achieving GM's goals, as well as a strong understanding of GM's simulation environments.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the formulation and review of department roadmaps and objectives on a quarterly and monthly cadence
  • Partner with Technical Product Managers to turn requirements and technical specs into achievable implementation roadmaps, including planning timelines and landmarks and identifying cross-team dependencies
  • Work with Engineering Managers to ensure teams take on a balanced assignment of critical initiatives, iterative improvements, and proactive engineering excellence investments. Support calculation of team capacity vs estimated workload, and ensure the team can deliver on their commitments
  • Define and track KPIs, program metrics, and validation milestones to ensure timely delivery of engineering achievements
  • Work with Technical Leads on design decisions, and contribute to the department design reviews to ensure we continue to raise our technical standards
  • Ensure smooth execution of programs and continuously improve execution over time
  • Proactively identify risks and blockers across software and operations-and drive mitigation plans in real time
  • Lead program reviews with technical and executive stakeholders across GM
  • Establish confidence from partner teams to continuously minimize distractions or conflicts and push groups to improve their output

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 7+ years of project/program management experience in technical complex systems, demonstrating a strong track record of successful project delivery
  • Proven experience in technical program management, especially within the AV simulation and testing domain
  • BS or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive leadership
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to connect high-level architecture to on-the-ground execution details.
  • Deep familiarity with Agile program delivery, Jira, Confluence, and technical development workflows.
  • Passionate about AV technology and its impact on the world

What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience working and developing Autonomous Vehicles or advanced robotics systems, especially for their testing and simulation environments
  • Knowledge of core simulation frameworks
  • Exposure to verifying and validating safety critical software and systems

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

  • The salary range for this role is $143,000 to $258,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
