The Role:
The Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls organization is at the center of any technology that enables the vehicle to move, turn, or stop. We are responsible for the development and deployment of complex embedded controller software specific to propulsion and chassis control systems. VMEC's mission is to deliver best in class embedded controllers using disciplined layered software architecture to enable VMEC to release customer desired features faster to market than our competitors.

We are looking for a Software Design Release Engineer (SW DRE) to join the VMEC Inhouse brake controls (IBAC) software deployment team. The SW DRE position is responsible for planning, validating, and releasing inhouse brake controls software and calibrations for their assigned BEV3 vehicle programs for production. This role encompasses end-to-end ownership of brake controls software and is part of an Agile deployment scrum team. You will work with key stakeholders to ensure that software components are validated and released on-time with quality.
What You'll do:
- Address all controller and system safety concerns promptly
- Support product issue investigations (Problem Resolution Tracking System - PRTS), continuous process improvements, standard methodologies, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives
- Support requirements and design reviews with suppliers, algorithm and software groups
- Support Senior DREs with changes from supplier, electrical architecture, controls, software and cyber security Engineers and update controller requirement documents
- Organize and lead controller Product Development (PDT) meetings
- Support investigations on software-related issues
- Own release of the software during development & production
- Manage part number proliferation for the embedded controller
- Manage software validation plans
- Keep supplier(s) on track to meet key milestones
- Issue part saleable status based on successful completion of all required testing
- Monitor design changes in production
- Support controller warranty analysis, issue resolution, parts restriction and report updates as required to team leadership
- Support annual validation requirements
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in one of the following: Engineering or Computer Science
- 2+ years experience in real-time embedded software system development.
- Technical project lead or project management experience.
- Demonstrated drive for results and teamwork in project execution.
- Analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Direct hands-on experience in developing real-time controls software.
- Understanding of operating systems and instrumentation for embedded systems.
- Familiarity with configuration management systems and build tools, such as, GiT, Jira, & Jenkins.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
