Responsible to manage salaried group leaders in the implementation and execution of the established business process for an area in the production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems. Supervise a very large group of salaried employees involved in multiple departments and processes.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
In this role, you will coach, train, develop and evaluate employees. You will provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems, and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations in addition to the following:
- Nearly constant contact with others outside the work group
- Administers divisional and Corporate policies
- Meets cost, schedule and quality requirements
- Maintains Corporate and unit management control systems, budget and other information necessary to monitor performance in addition to maintaining safety and good housekeeping standards
- Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Assist in the forecasting of areas of responsibility and establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job or project
Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment. Assists in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 5+ years of experience in an Automotive Assembly Plant (OEM preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to lead problem solving activities and leverage analytical abilities.
- Leadership/Management Experience (UAW, Salaried, Skilled Trades or similar)
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint)
- Must be able to work any shift
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS) Production experience
- Paint Shop experience
- Experience in applying 6 pillars of quality process to meet BIQ IV
