Onsite - This role requires the employee to be onsite full time. The primary work location will be the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI.
The Role
The Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC) team is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Validation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing validation protocols to ensure systems, equipment, and processes meet regulatory standards and internal quality requirements. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, software, and manufacturing to support product development and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industry regulations (such as FDA, GMP, or ISO standards), excellent analytical skills, and experience in risk assessment, documentation, and testing within a regulated environment.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Engage in building system-level requirements and validate system performance against these requirements
- Design and implement robust, cost-effective validation strategies that meet quality and compliance requirements
- Develop and execute system validation plans ensuring system objectives are met (includes compiling test plan documentation)
- Work cross-functionally with hardware, software, and safety teams to ensure validation activities are well-integrated into development milestones
- Collaborate with functional safety engineering team to ensure validation plans capture autonomous certification requirements
- Maintain the validation master plan and ensure it reflects current validation activities
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 5+ years experience in Validation Engineering, Design, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience in product validation, testing, or certification within a regulated industry (preferably robotics, automation, or autonomous systems).
- Experience with validation planning, execution, and requirements traceability.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Knowledge of GM validation processes
- Experience with Jama requirements software
- Strong working knowledge of UL, NRTL, and other relevant regulatory certification processes
- Experience working with autonomous mobile platforms or robotics
- Advanced degree in engineering
