Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Mountain View CA, Austin TX, or Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

The Role
As a Senior Platform Management Engineer, you will provide technical and business support across multiple products and applications, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of solutions delivered to customers. You will leverage your functional understanding of High Performance Compute (HPC) architecture, infrastructure, and peripheral products to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex issues. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, independent judgment in escalating critical matters, and the ability to interpret system logs and traces. You will also serve as a mentor, coaching less experienced team members in standard procedures.In this position, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, and successful transition of technologies into Operations. You will work closely with technical teams to define efficient and effective solutions, often supporting multiple project teams simultaneously. This role requires balancing competing requests, meeting project deadlines, and ensuring IT standards, production readiness, and quality processes are followed. Additional responsibilities include monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting escalation of real-time incidents.

What You'll Do

  • Support the delivery, quality, and efficiency of various team initiatives
  • Partner with leadership to document and improve internal processes via ongoing testing
  • Focus on data analysis and manipulation to assess the state of internal processes
  • Provide technical support by identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues of varying complexity
  • Interpret software and operating system logs/traces to assist in problem resolution
  • Mentor and coach junior staff in best practices and procedures
  • Participate in and report on ongoing investigations of technical and business issues
  • Ensure IT standards and production readiness processes are followed
  • Monitor systems, perform maintenance, and implement corrective actions to support operations
  • Act as a technical resource across multiple project teams, balancing priorities and deadlines

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline preferred or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT field, will consider strong academic experience/performance.
  • Demonstrated experience applying a wide range of concepts, practices, and procedures within the field, with the ability to rely on sound judgment and prior expertise to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex technical solutions on time with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail, creativity, and innovation in problem-solving.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience analyzing and resolving problems of significant scope/scale, including triage and production support scenarios requiring review of multiple factors.
  • Skilled in requirements gathering and analysis, with effective collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Experienced in developing, maintaining, monitoring, and delivering large-scale technical solutions.
  • Ability to create documentation, technical diagrams, and system architectures for diverse audiences, including senior architects and executive management.
  • Strong Linux/Unix expertise, including command-line proficiency and BASH scripting.
  • Hands-on experience integrating Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu) with NAS storage technologies.
  • Familiarity with Linux cluster management and provisioning tools (Chef, Foreman, Ansible) in high-volume environments (1,000+ servers).

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Familiarity with InfiniBand operations and troubleshooting, including RDMA.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM GPFS and DDN storage system administration.
  • Proficiency in storage protocols such as NFS, CIFS, and Samba.
  • Experience with enterprise-level monitoring and performance analysis tools.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and deliver results within dynamic, fast-paced schedules.
  • Strong capability to design and propose alternative technical solutions to meet evolving customer needs.

Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is $94,800 to $176,100 . The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.


  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
