Senior Manager, Quality Engineering

Markham, Canada

Description

Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office, three days per week, at minimum.

Job Description

The Platform Integrity Verification (PIV) team is responsible for ensuring that the autonomous vehicle platform software behaves reliably, safely, and consistently across all lifecycle stages - from pre-release validation to field deployment support. We are seeking a talented Senior Manager to lead, grow, and support quality engineering teams focused on platform-level validation and system lifecycle verification.

Our teams test how software behaves in real-world conditions and edge cases - before vehicles hit the road - by combining bench-level validation, plant/service readiness, and test automation across platforms. This role will oversee multiple quality-focused teams working at the intersection of platform software, vehicle systems, and autonomy requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and grow a team of first-line Managers and senior engineers within the Platform Integrity Verification function
  • Ensure teams deliver high-quality test automation, simulation coverage, and lifecycle validation for platform software that is safe, resilient, and production-ready
  • Partner with Managers and tech leads to set verification strategy and long-term technical direction across diagnostics, AV sensing, and vehicle abstraction solutions
  • Drive a quality-first culture by fostering deep collaboration with development and systems engineering partners
  • Define and execute an engineering roadmap that scales verification capabilities and supports AV Platform software delivery across development, manufacturing, and service stages
  • Mentor and grow engineering talent, conduct performance reviews, and guide high performers toward technical leadership or people management paths

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Proven experience leading engineering or quality teams in a complex, multi-domain software environment (e.g., embedded systems, autonomy, platform infrastructure, or safety-critical systems)
  • Strong understanding of validation, verification, and test automation practices for large-scale or safety-critical software systems
  • Experience managing and mentoring engineering managers and senior ICs

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear strategies and action plans
  • Passion for building scalable systems, growing people, and fostering a high-performance engineering culture
  • Experience with lifecycle testing, hardware-in-the-loop, plant/service validation, or simulation frameworks is a strong plus
  • Experience implementing quality metrics for visibility of system and organizational health
  • Experience implementing innovative solutions to improve efficiencies and effectiveness

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience working on automotive software validation, including diagnostic systems, safety features, or hardware/software integration
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262, ASPICE, or other functional safety and automotive software development standards
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols
  • Prior contributions to platform-level or system integration validation in autonomous or advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS)
