Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid, which means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan four times per week, minimum . Depending on business need, the role has the potential to expand to 5 days in office per week to support business demands .

Senior Manager, General Motors Community Dealer Development (GMCDD):

The Dealer Development team is dedicated to strengthening and optimizing GM's dealer network to drive increased sales and grow market share. We are especially focused on expanding access to the dealer ecosystem by creating targeted opportunities for individuals historically underrepresented in this space. Through formal mentorship, structured training, and inclusive initiatives, we aim to optimize and build a more high-performing dealer network.

The Senior Leader is responsible for developing and executing strategic plans and operational tactics across the GMCDD portfolio. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders and regional field teams to drive measurable outcomes that support GM's broader dealer development objectives.

Success in this role demands agility, strategic thinking, and a passion for leading and delivering complex, high-impact programs. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic, high-visibility environments and communicates with clarity, confidence, and influence-earning buy-in, building alignment, and fostering meaningful engagement with key dealer partners.

Leading a small, high-performing team, the Senior Leader will bring focus, discipline, and strategic alignment to mission-critical initiatives-particularly high-profile events and engagements that are vital to GMCDD's success.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager is responsible for:

  • Growth, Development, and Leadership of a Small Team
    Lead and develop a focused, high-performing team dedicated to advancing GM's dealer network.
  • Expanding Our Dealer Pipeline
    Attract highly qualified dealer candidates to infuse new external talent into the GM family. This is achieved through targeted recruitment efforts, candidate-focused events, and active participation in industry conferences such as NADA, NAMAD, and local business associations.
  • Protecting and Optimizing Our Dealer Network
    Provide structured operational support to dealers aimed at increasing throughput and profitability. This includes delivering formal mentorship and training programs, facilitating Industry 20 groups, and maintaining consistent leadership engagement. Additionally, oversee the newly launched G M Lineage Program for GM Dealer Successors , creating a clear pathway for dealers to introduce and develop the next generation of leadership within GM.
  • Managing High-Impact Dealer Conferences
    Organize and lead two major conferences designed to engage dealer partners and celebrate their achievements. These events offer valuable educational content and networking opportunities tailored specifically for GMCDD dealers.

Additional Description

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in high-visibility or fast-paced environments, with a focus on managing large-scale business events, strategic planning, hospitality, or related areas
  • 5+ years of consistent leadership experience managing teams, direct reports, or large cross-functional initiatives
  • Proven strategic thinker with a creative, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Proven track record of systematically building team capabilities and supporting talent development
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and build organizational capability beyond immediate team scope
  • Experience coaching teams through change management, while driving performance and accountability
  • Strong automotive industry acumen, with the ability to work effectively across diverse functions and stakeholders
  • High-level strategic planning skills, paired with tactical expertise in analysis, design, and innovation
  • Ability to travel domestically for conferences and business meeting average 35% annually
