GM is looking for a hands-on Senior Fleet Reliability Engineer for our AV Operations team to support our data collection efforts by maintaining >90% fleet uptime. In this position, you will work closely with Vehicle Technicians, Vehicle Integration, AV Software, Embodied AI, Hardware Systems, General Motors, and Program teams to ensure critical vehicle data collection targets are met.
You will focus on issue identification, triage, and root cause for issues encountered during vehicle calibration, launch, and on-road driving/testing. Identifying which issues and resolutions need forwarding to relevant engineering teams and partnering with those teams on issue resolution and overall continuous improvement are a key responsibility of this role

What you'll be doing:
- Support Fleet uptime for prototype vehicle systems and components through issue identification, triage, configuration & code debugging, and root cause analysis.
- Work with cross-functional teams to drive hardware and software design changes by balancing short-term improvements and long-term solutions to resolve issues. Issues are varied, including network configuration issues, AV sensor connectivity issues, fleet management, car connectivity, and AV system software.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional groups, including technicians, operators, engineers, and external partners.
What you must have:
- 5+ years of experience working in automotive, robotics, consumer electronics, or aerospace industries.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Familiarity with C++ and/or Python for scripting and testing, Linux commands for connecting to vehicle systems
- Hands-on experience working with and debugging complex hardware and software systems.
- Ability to read through vehicle and component schematics, datasheets, and communication architecture.
- Experience with Autonomous Vehicle Control, Active Safety, Electrification, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of hardware and software interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, LIN)
- Experience with software release tools & programming languages (Jenkins, Artifactory, SPR, Linux, etc.)
- Experience with product management tools (JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Loop, Etc.)
- Familiarity with software integration tools such as Vector, Intrepid, INCA, dSpace
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels within an organization
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage tasks under minimal supervision and provide direction to integration engineers
- Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to drive and operate test vehicles
Bonus Points!
- Experience developing or working on an end-to-end robotics system.
- Experience in interfaces between the vehicle platform, actuators, vehicle software, and communication network.
- Understanding vehicle communication protocols (CAN / CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet), and strong understanding of networking concepts.
- Experience programming C++ and/or Python for production environments.
- Compensation:
- The expected base compensation for this role is: $125,200-$192,700. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- You also need to include general information about potential commissions, if applicable.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
