Description

This role is categorized as hybrid. A successful candidate will be expected to be in the office at Warren, MI a minimum of three times per week.

The Role

The Vehicle Data Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who has a strong background in building large-scale data streaming platforms. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and maintaining data systems that include high-throughput data streams, data curation, data storage and file system architectures, data security and governance, as well as inline inferencing and AI algorithms.

What You'll Do

  • Develop a scalable data platform to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
  • Design and Develop data pipelines to ingest, process, and curate large volumes of data using Apache Flink or similar technologies.
  • Support the infrastructure required for optimal ingestion, transformation, and delivery of data.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to support the needs of advanced ML development
  • Design and implement rigorous data validation, governance, and quality checks to uphold data integrity.
  • Mentor & Support junior engineers by providing guidance, coaching and educational opportunities.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years software engineering experience, with a focus on data engineering
  • Strong Java development experience
  • Proven cloud experience and strong familiarity with at least one cloud platform (Microsoft Azure - preferred, AWS, GCP).
  • Experience in building distributed data processing micro-services and high-quality, scalable data products.
  • Knowledge in both relational and non-relational DB and experience in Schema design.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to identify tasks which require automation and automate them
  • A demonstrable understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment
  • Strong knowledge and experience with CI/CD practices.

  • Experience with Azure cloud services, Azure storage solutions, Azure resource management
  • Experience with Kubernetes architecture, cluster management, monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in working with object stores for efficient storage and retrieval of data
  • Understanding of monitoring principles and observability practices

Compensation:

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $134,000- $205,000. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
