General Motors' Global Tax and Customs department is a team of approximately 200 people focused primarily on GM's most complex and strategic tax and trade matters. We manage relationships with a variety of external partners who perform many of our day-to-day tax functions. As a Senior Customs Analyst, you will:
- Provide complete visibility of customs costs for GM Brazil, supporting monthly/annual closing, budget planning, and the preparation of highly accurate financial reports;
- Maximize the benefits of special regimes (RECOF, Drawback, Ex-Tariff, Temporary Admission), ensuring full compliance;
- Act as the primary liaison with customs brokers and internal partners, guiding import/export transactions, master data quality, and broker performance;
- Lead continuous improvement projects that reduce duty expenditures, enhance free trade agreement (FTA) qualification, and automate processes;
- Monitor and coordinate activities related to import and export flows: Ensure that all import and export operations comply with deadlines and legal and regulatory standards, coordinating the activities and deliveries of the Customs Broker;
- Work with Customs Costs and Finance;
- Control import cost models, tax accruals, and reconciliations used in monthly/quarterly closings and annual budget cycles;
- Prepare financial statements, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses related to customs with data accuracy exceeding 99%;
- Special Regimes and Tax Mitigation;
- Administer RECOF-SPED, Drawback, Ex-Tariff, and similar programs (declarations, benefit monitoring, audits);
- Identify and quantify new FTA or tax suspension opportunities; develop business cases for savings. Master Data and Process Improvement;
- Maintain in-house HS codes, supplier origin, and product catalogs for customs purposes;
- Use Excel (advanced), Power BI/Access, and automation tools to optimize reporting and controls;
- Provide best practice training for cross-functional teams (Finance, Logistics, Taxation, Purchasing, Manufacturing);
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal customers, customs authorities, and other foreign trade stakeholders: Build a strong network to ensure alignment and collaboration across all foreign trade processes .
Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Accounting, Economics, Logistics or related field.
- Strong hands-on experience in customs or trade compliance, including import and export operations.
- Proven track record with Brazilian special regimes (preferably RECOF) and customs financial controls.
- Advanced Excel plus working knowledge of SAP, Siscomex and data-visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Solid grounding in HS classification, FTA rules, valuation and export-control concepts.
- Advanced English; Portuguese native or advanced.
Preferred:
- Experience leading project workstreams.
- Familiarity with global ERP trade-automation solutions and SQL reports or other process-simplification platforms.
- Advanced English.

- Special-regime utilization rates and documented savings improve year-over-year.
- Zero critical audit findings; KPIs consistently exceed targets.
