This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The Senior Analyst, U.S. Benefits & Labor, at General Motors is a pivotal member of the team, responsible for overseeing and enhancing employee benefit programs while supporting labor relations efforts in the United States. This position reports to the Senior Manager, U.S. Benefits, Labor & Data Integrations. This role demands a keen analytical mind, a passion for problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering world-class employee experiences. The analyst will collaborate cross-functionally with HR, legal, finance, and operational teams to ensure that benefits and labor strategies align with General Motors' strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Benefits Program Management: analyze, implement, and continuously improve employee benefit programs
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Leverage various data sources to evaluate the effectiveness and competitiveness of benefits offerings. Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership to drive data-informed decisions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all benefit plans and labor practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations (ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, COBRA, etc.). Monitor legislative developments and recommend necessary updates.
- Vendor and Partner Management: Liaise with benefits providers, consultants, and third-party administrators to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Labor Relations Support: Assist in the interpretation and administration of collective bargaining agreements. Support labor negotiations, grievance resolution, and contract implementation processes.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline benefits administration processes, reduce costs, and enhance employee satisfaction.
- Employee Communication: Develop and deliver clear, engaging benefit-related communications to employees, including plan changes, open enrollment, and wellness initiatives.
- Benchmarking & Market Research: Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
- Project Management: Lead or participate in cross-functional projects related to benefits strategy, labor relations, and employee experience improvements.
- Problem Resolution: Address complex benefits and labor issues, providing guidance and solutions that balance regulatory requirements, company policies, and employee needs.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline. Advanced degree or professional certifications (CEBS, PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in benefits administration, labor relations, and HR analytics, ideally in a large, complex organization.
- Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of U.S. benefits regulations and labor laws.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver projects on time, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Negotiation & Influence: Skilled at working with partners, vendors, and labor representatives to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Confidentiality: High standard of discretion and ethical conduct when handling sensitive information.
- Technological Proficiency: Comfortable learning and adopting new HR technologies and digital tools.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to collaborate within and across teams, fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.
