This role is based REMOTE but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Warren, MI - Cadillac Tower you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum. This job may be eligible for relocation.
The Search Strategy Manage r is a strategic leader, responsible for overseeing the in-house paid search team, driving its success, and supporting the Search Strategy Lead in key business objectives and yearly projects. This role requires a deep understanding of paid search hands-on-keys and theory, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to develop innovative strategies and guiding the team on implementation. The Strategy Manager will guide the SEM team, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure that paid search efforts align with overall business objectives. The Manager is expected to have strong knowledge and understanding of all aspects of search and exercises independent discretion and judgment on significant matters of strategy and activation based on professional knowledge.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development & Execution: Develop and implement paid search strategies aligned with business goals. Oversee operational plans, analyze data, and resolve issues. Use judgment to create programs and strategies that meet annual objectives.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Oversee the SEM team (including the SEM Specialist, SEM Senior Specialist, and SEM Assistant Manager), providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback. Communicates recommendations and results effectively across job areas. Actively listens and responds to colleagues' concerns to engage them towards goals. Promotes cooperation and explains information to subordinates and peers. Mentors' junior employees, providing coaching on difficult issues. Builds teams with the right mix of talent and experience, making intentional hiring decisions. Recognizes and rewards development both publicly and privately.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage key stakeholder relationships, providing strategic recommendations and performance updates. Handle diverse challenges with multiple moving parts, developing plans and viewing the whole picture. Work independently, with reviews at critical points.
- Budget Management & Forecasting: Develop and manage paid search budgets, forecasting performance and ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Performance Analysis & Reporting: Analyze overall program performance, identify trends, and provide strategic insights to stakeholders.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Stay current with paid search trends and best practices, implementing new strategies and technologies. Develop and deliver solutions, driving cross-team efforts. Lead by example, taking responsibility, acknowledging mistakes, and being accountable for goals. Address diverse issues with innovative methods and propose alternative approaches.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other marketing teams (e.g., SEO, social media) for integrated efforts. Develop and deliver solutions, driving cross-team efforts. Lead by example, taking responsibility, acknowledging mistakes, and being accountable for goals. Address diverse issues with innovative methods and propose alternative approaches.
- Stretch Projects & Challenges: Addresses broad challenges by independently analyzing options and breaking them into actionable initiatives. Identifies opportunities to improve processes, services, and structures. Drives change through persuasion, overcoming differing opinions and past practices.
- Independent & Cross Team Leadership: Provides technical expertise and supports team interactions with other departments. Drives team results, determines resources, and receives general management guidance. Enhances relationships with senior partners, using data to demonstrate project value and address concerns. Handles diverse challenges with multiple moving parts, developing plans and viewing the whole picture.
- AI Knowledge & Understanding: Develop an understanding the impact AI is having on search landscape and guiding GM through the changing landscape, by adapting current strategy and testing new opportunities in the space with a critical eye and prior search expertise (Organic + Paid)
Additional Description
Skills and Abilities
- 7+ years' experience in SEM/SEO; demonstrated experience in paid search required
- Bachelor Degree required
- Deep understanding of paid search principles, best practices, and emerging trends.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in client communication and management.
- Proven ability to develop and execute successful paid search strategies.
- Uses advanced analytical and problem-solving techniques to resolve a wide range of non-standard problems.
This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis. A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review.
Compensation:
- The expected base compensation for this role is: ($117,800-$184,300). Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
