Work Arrangement:

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin, TX or Palo Alto, CA three times per week, at minimum .

About the role:

As a Salesforce System Engineer, you'd be responsible for understanding the business need while co-creating technical solutions serving as a reference for the overall design. As a System Engineer you will author functional design and configuration specification deliverables based on GM business requirements. Work independently to build and deploy Salesforce configuration and setup and support production deployments of business capabilities. Migrate meta data between Salesforce environments using change sets and other tools. Adhere to best practices of system maintenance and code migrations between sandbox and production environments. Advise and guides business and product owner teams towards best practices in application configuration, workflow, customizations, and data validation. Advise and guides business and product teams towards best practices for salesforce.com user setup including roles, profiles, security model, permissions, and groups. Collaborate with end-users to create project-specific training material and conducts training sessions.

What You'll Do:

  • Engage with Product Owners, Salesforce Architects, Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend implementation approaches based on best practices leveraging knowledge of the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Be responsible and accountable for gathering requirements and documenting all User stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Be responsible for the grooming of user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Co-facilitate discovery sessions, and demos, and train the trainer.
  • Participate in testing, troubleshoot issues.
  • Partner with other business and technical teams to understand business needs and translate them into capability/platform roadmaps and work toward realizing the roadmaps.
  • Assist in developing accurate business process design for future enhancements.
  • Work throughout the organization with the goal of improving and implementing new technologies, supporting large scale team initiatives, and driving team success
  • Support the team in building a cohesive, streamlined and quality solution in an Agile environment.
  • Capture, evaluate and direct business requirements to create clear user stories and solution deliverables with the required information to identify the optimal solution(s).
  • Evaluate business requirement and create clear business process and workflow use cases.
  • Configure Salesforce including but not limited to: Workflow, Process Builder, Flow, assignment rules, approval processes, user management, fields, page layouts, record types, dynamic layouts, apps, actions, custom settings, mobile administration, integrations, dashboards, and reports.
  • Partner across the organization to identify dependencies and align teams on overall timelines and business objectives
  • Assist with Salesforce platform management tasks such as evaluating new Salesforce product features for revenue team impact, app evaluations, profiles/org hierarchy design, integration with other systems, capacity planning, defining SLA measurements, etc.
  • Support documentation on processes, policies, configurations, controls, report creation and changes to field history tables and end user training materials as the platform evolves.
  • Create and manage custom objects, fields, formulas, validation rules, custom workflow, lead routing rules and approval processes. Examples include New Picklist values, New Record types, New fields, Page layouts, Validation Rules, Workflows, Processes Flows, and Reporting Triggers.


  • Work with development team to design and implement innovative solutions with a focus on adhering to standards, best practices, and code quality techniques.
  • Understanding of Salesforce sharing and security regarding roles, hierarchies, profiles, permissions
  • Stay current on Salesforce releases, new features, product roadmaps, integration tools, best practices, and applications available from 3rd parties on the Salesforce AppExchange

Additional Description

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Salesforce experience, specifically with sales cloud, service cloud or Automotive cloud.
  • 10 plus years of IT and business experience
  • Solid understanding of Salesforce architecture, best practices, and data models
  • In-depth knowledge of Salesforce products and their functionalities.
  • Expertise with roles, profiles, sharing rules, and permission sets.
  • Experience working with a large portfolio of projects spanning multiple clients.
  • Troubleshoot system, process, and data issues.
  • Synthesize and interpret both technical data and business requirements
  • Strong expertise with capture, evaluation, and direct business requirements to create clear user stories, business process workflows, and solution deliverables with the required information to recommend solutions leveraging best practices.
  • Data management - data review, manipulation (imports/exports/transformation), data quality management
  • Preferred Experience with Salesforce Flow, Azure DevOps, Siebel, Microsoft M365, AppExchange, and work order management process understanding.
  • Salesforce.com integration experience, including between different business systems as well as working with integration tools.
  • Preferred one or more Salesforce certifications (including but not limited to Salesforce Certified Field Service Lightning Consultant, Salesforce Certified Administrator, or Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant) that demonstrate current knowledge as an administrator.
  • Experience developing advanced declarative Salesforce solutions
  • Experience developing Flow Builder
  • Strong expertise with capture, evaluation, and direct business requirements to create clear user stories, business process workflows, and solution deliverables with the required information to identify the best to implement the solution(s).


  • Experience working in team-bases delivery environment with agile/scrum methodology.
  • Experience in using business process design applications such as Visio.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills; frequent proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions

located outside of the California Bay Area.

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $152,100 to $232,900 . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
