Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren - GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.
This is a supervisory position, responsible for conducting purchasing activities to support sourcing, contract and supplier management activities in line with departmental strategy and objectives.
The position will be responsible for sourcing Rail, Vehicle Haulaway and Yard Management activities within USA and Canada and have one indirect report for Rail and Yard Management purchasing in Mexico.
The primary role of this position is to support the Rail & Yard Purchasing Team as it relates to purchasing activities. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the execution of rail/yard related procurement programs in accordance with established processes and procedures, while also working to continuously improve those processes and procedures. This position requires strong knowledge of rail network and Inbound and Finished vehicle operations, and must possess excellent communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in executing strategic sourcing initiatives and cost savings projects
- Manage the development and maintenance of contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation necessary for the rail/yard supply chain
- Support the implementation of new technologies and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of rail/yard operations
- Develop and maintain relationships with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
- Provide guidance and training to junior team members on rail/yard operations best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex problems or issues arising within the rail network.
- Participate in special projects or assignments as directed by management

Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program, manufacturing, or logistics
- Experience managing multiple suppliers and vendors at once highly desirable
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive
Effective communicator with both verbal and written skills
Demonstrated leadership abilities and interpersonal skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Self-motivated individual capable of working independently
Able to effectively communicate with all levels of management - 5% Travel Domestically
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related advanced degree
- Strong understanding of rail/yard operations and associated materials
- People Leader Experience
